In short

 

I called Hastings asking how much my car insurance e would be had I moved to a new address.

 

I gave them the details and they promptly told me it would add another £347 to my policy which I had to pay straight away.

 

I said that I would call them back with payment details if indeed I was moving and would go ahead.

 

I didn't call them back as my new landlord was doing further check,

but they immediately starting writing to me at the new address demanding money,

even through I wasn't even living there yet.

 

Nearly cost me my home and landlord was not impressed.

 

They then passed the case onto Red castle.

 

I have written and called to red castle telling them to stop contacting me at that address as I am disputing the dept.

I have also written to Hastings, but not formally complained yet. It's really upset me as I've just taken out and paid £700 for in full a new car insurance policy with a company I have just found out is affiliated with Hastings,

 

any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

How long was left on the Policy when you asked them for the quote ?

How was the Policy paid-in one sum or installments ?

 

You should have made a complaint in writing to Hastings immediately.

So how long has this been going on now ?

 

We have a rep from Hastings on the site here,no doubt they will try and sort things out.

Hi Martin Something like 3 months was left on the policy.

It was paid in instalments.

 

I will draft a letter of complaint and send ASAP. This has been going on since I called them, so about 3 months of chasing from them and two weeks of red castle texting and calling me.

They called me back today (Sunday) having listened to the call and read me the transcript. Sounds like I did say I moved and would pay (albeit it was an error on my part) so I guess in their eyes I am liable, not sure I have a leg to stand on now...

Wait and see if their webteam can do anything.Are you able to prove that you did not move ?

Thank you so much for your help Martin and Jamie. My issue was resolved professionally and promptly. My faith in the brand is restored and I am impressed at how well Hastings Direct have dealt with issue.
