AFAIK it depends on which version of tapatalk you're using. If it's the free version you wouldn't be able to reply to a thread anyway.

I don't think we're using the tapatalk plugin on CAG any longer. Is it not possible just to browser CAG like any other site, in your mobile's web browser ? (sorry if I'm being thick here)

You can its just Tapatalk is much easier then using a mobile browser

Oh ok, interesting. I wasn't aware that tapatalk was any better (than visiting via a browser), and I know there have been security issues with it in the past. Anyone else have any thoughts on tapatalk?

Just found out exactly what it is. For those as in the dark as me......................this is from someone in the know....

Tapatalk is a forum app for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android and Nokia. The app provides super fast forum access to any vBulletin, phpBB forums that have activated Tapatalk (Simple Machine Forum and IP.Board are in development). Forum owner can download the free plug-in to activate Tapatalk in your forum.

 

I use it to view and post on a vBulletin based car forum. It is better than viewing the same site on the regular web browser.

I've found mixed reviews for this app but better reviews for the Opera Mini 5 as mentioned above by Cerb.

Each time I try to connect to then consumer forums on tapatalk it says failed to connect to forum please check with forum administrator ?

I use tapatalk for a few forums and it would help if CAG was on the list

We ditched tapatalk for a few reasons:

 

1) Although it's free for us to implement, end users need to pay for it

2) There'd been a few security issues with it

3) We have a (hopefully) better alternative.

 

1 and 2 aren't the end of the world, but when the alternative seemed just a good, we couldn't see any point in continuing to support it.

 

Instead, we just have a mobile style (http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/?styleid=18 if anyone on a PC wants to see it) which should show automatically for anyone on a hand-held device. If there are good reasons why tapatalk would be better, I'm all ears - we'd probably consider using it again if it was significantly that just using a mobile style

For me it's just easier to have all my forums in one place and have already paid for it, but I understand the security issues so I will continue to use firefox mobile
