hello all if a person is placed in the WRAG you must attend work focused interviews however is there an exception to attendance if the person is a carer recieving carers allowance ?

Yes. Carers aren't required to attend the interviews:

The requirement to carry out work related activity applies to those in the work-related activity group. The following are not required to take part in work related activity;

those in the ESA support group

lone parents on ESA with a child under the age of 5; and

ESA claimants who also receive carers allowance or a carer’s premium.

hmm the letter does not state this it just rabbits on about having to attend them do you think its worth calling them to mention this as the transfer letter states that the person is in receipt of carers allowance so they are aware also can they mandate a person to come in any type of interview etc ? also can you find out the time limit from when to expect another medical as the letter does not state this!

I cannot find any exception due to being a carer. You may be able to get the interviews waived due to:-

A requirement to take part in a WFI may be waived where an officer determines that and interview would not be

1. of assistance to the person concerned or

2. appropriate in the circumstances

ref:- www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/dmgch05.pdf

So if you phone them and explain the situation (not appropriate due to caring for someone), the WFI officer may waive the interviews?
