Getting Default Removed

Hi,

 

I have a default for missing payments with Home Retail Group through Argos.

 

The account has been payed off and settled through a debt collection agency.

 

Can I ask to get the default removed?

 

Me and my family are trying to get a mortgage and this is hindering our chances.

it will remain on for 6 years from the default date. you can ask the creditor to remove it but they seldom do. if you still owed the money you could have negotiated its removal

The only way you can can get a default removed is if they cannot prove they sent you a default notice. Write to them asking for a copy.

In my case, I had three defaults on my credit file. Two could not provide a copy of the default notices and had them removed
