My dodgy landlord!!

Hi all.

Just thought I'd tell you about my recent experince.

 

I have just left a property after living there for 6 months with a majorly dodgy landlord. Since we moved in we were constantly lied to by the landlord.

 

We were first told that anything that needed doing would be done before we moved in, however when we had given notice at our previous property we then found that this was not the case but it was too late to do anything about it.

 

We were told to pay 4 weeks rent in advance which was fine until the rent collector/administrator told us was actually a bond. this was not put into any protection scheme.

 

We waited approx 5 weeks after moving in for the sink to be fitted in the kitchen which continuously leaked until we moved out.

 

Damp appeared in all bedrooms, never rectified.

 

We constantly had damp and mould in the bathroom, then damp appeared in the kitchen which led to us having to throw out approx £300 worth of food and kitchen items (including stuff for xmas!!)

 

The toilet leaked continuously in the time we were there, also never repaired.

 

Bodged repair to the stairs which was never rectified. Steps had split across the middle.

 

Promised that the kitchen would be rectified, damp and mould would be seen to, but this was never done. Since found out that landlord was fully aware of the problems and promised previous tenant new kitchen!

 

When a pipe leaked under the floorboard I had to temporarily tape it up and this was never properly repaired.

 

Exposed wires everywhere. No electrical safety check carried out despite promises.

 

I now have no proof whatsoever that rent was paid as I was never given receipts or a rent book.

 

I have also since found out that the tenancy agreement is a load of rubbish, quotes legislation that has been amended and unfair terms!!!

 

Thank god I have moved out, now have a decent landlord with a proper tenacy agreement.
