I am employed for the NHS and until recently had a car park permit (paid monthly until charges were abolished in Dec2008). The permit expired in August and we were given a one weeks grace of extra parking. I no longer park on NHS grounds. However I received a letter from Trethowans for a £40 charge for displaying an invalid permit in a permit holder place but I never had a parking ticket on my car.

What is my legal position on this? Can my employers issue disciplinary proceedings for failing to pay this charge?

This is just an unenforcable invoice from CP Plus-thier chancing thier arm. CP Plus also run a few of the hospitals in Wales that are still under long term contracts-i know a number of people that have had dealings with them and thier red permits/badges. If Trethowans are involved your almost at the end of the line. Ignore them and they will disappear after a few threatograms :D

Thanks for the advice. I had read on a few places that the charges were best to be ignored, I was just worried that my employers could issue any warning letters or even sack me over this.

I still have no idea why there was not a ticket on my car and can`t understand it at all.
