Hi

Not sure if this is the correct or best place to post this but I cant see anywhere more relevant

Do I have a right to have my car repaired by a garage of my choice after a car accident (which wasn't my fault), my insurance company is trying to arrange repairs with a garage I have had a previous bad experience with and are not being to helpful with an alternative.

I believe that, usually, the repairs must be carried out at a garage on the insurance companies approved list.

I suggest that you contact the insurance company and point out that because of past experience with their appointed garage, you don't have any confidence in them. Ask if they have an alternative garage that you could use.

Most insurance companies babble on about approved repairers but if you read on there is the the option of taking to a garage of your choice. Doing so would mean you will lose some benefits, quick decision and that courtesy car.

Seem to remember something about getting 3 quotes from repairers who you trust then passing these onto the insurance company for them to choose from, perhaps worth looking into
