  1. Hi I'm just after a bit of advice on what to do. I moved to Oz a few months ago and recently rented my house out in the UK using a letting agent. I owe around 40-50 % of the property value. I just have a normal repayment mortgage on the property and did not advise the lender of my intent to rent. I was about to advise the lender that I want to rent it out and ask for their permission and I understand they will probably put me on a higher rate. I have no problem with this and can afford it without any issues but I am worried what will happen if they refuse? Can they repossess the house if they find out I am renting it out without their permission? Many thanks
  2. I paid for them on my credit card, I wouldn't be able to get all of the statements but would have some. I'm a bit concerned now because its dawning on me that I have actually bought these items but she is claiming for them because I gave them to her as gifts so I'm not sure where she stands with this. She is a uni student in halls so as far as I know doesn't have contents insurance. Thanks again for the advice.
  3. Hi I wonder if anyone could help My daughter was involved in a caravan fire (suspected arson) whilst working abroad this summer. She basically lost everything apart from the clothes she was standing in and her laptop and phone which were still one her lap when she woke up by the fire! She had travel insurance purchased through the company she worked for. A number of electrical items I had bought her over the last couple of years were lost (tablet, camera and ipod). I still have the the original emails sent from these companies when these items were purchased. I have printed these emails off but they are saying they want original receipts. I still have the boxes for two of the items and the only paperwork that came with them were paperwork for returns. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks
  4. Cash sounds like the best way then. I know 8.50 isn't much but it just annoys me being charged for using my own money!
  5. I've recently moved from the yorkshire bank to the co-op. I bought some euros last week from the post office using my co-op visa debit card and have just noticed they have charged me £8.50 for this service. I'm pretty annoyed because it was my money that bought the euro's, it was not borrowed on a credit card. I don't remember ever being charged for using my old maestro card to buy currency. Is there anything I can do? (other than move banks again!) Many thanks
  6. Hi, I have received a threatening letter from santander due to an account in arrears of £5.26. The account is in arrears because santander did not request the correct amount from my account. I eventually managed to contact santander and they admitted their error before admitting it would now adversely affect my credit rating. I am absolutely livid, is there anywhere I can go with this?
  7. Ok cheers, hopefully the trader will be agreeable to waiting for me to receive a new V5, if not he's lost a sale and me my deposit.
  8. Hi all. I have bought a car but want to keep my personalised reg, I'm supposed to be exchanging cars along with the balance tomorrow. I need to put my reg on retention, my question is if I attend to a local dvla office with the relevant documents will they issue a new V5 for my 'old' car on the spot or will I still have to wait for weeks? Thanks
  9. Thanks for the reply, doing it that way would surely cost more money, the retention fee (100) and another 80 when I put it on a new car? Plus I don't really have that choice any more as I've already bought the car.
  10. Hi, I've just put a £500 deposit on a 2 yr old car from a small garage. They are taking mine in part ex and I'm returning on weds to pay the balance and swap cars. However I want to also keep my private reg and understand I need to fill a form in for this and send it off with the V5 of my new car. So they give me the new cars V5 document so I can take it with me to the dvla office but in getting home I notice the V5 is still in the name of the company they bought it off (zenith / provecta). I rang the garage and they said this is because they only bought it a couple of days ago and would not have the V5 in their name. So is this normal? I'm not used to buying and selling cars but with the added complication of a private reg I'm a bit confused and dont want to be ripped off after parting with 21k next wednesday. Thanks
  11. Sorry should have done some research before panic posting, it seems graham white solicitors is another [problem], I first thought it was this company Contact | Graham White & Co. Solicitors but then noticed the comment on the contact page
  12. Hi, my girlfriend went a few minutes over the allotted time recently in the local tesco car park and was issued a PCN by central ticketing, as she was actually shopping in teco's and the fact we spend £400+ a month there I told her not to pay it and to ignore the letters. This morning she has recieved a letter from graham white solictors which is a 'notice of intended litigation' before legal proceedings are issued in the county court. What course of action should I take next, I was considering contacting the solictors and asking for proof of who was driving the vehicle? If it goes to court at what point would it affect her credit rating? Thanks
  13. My missus has also now just received one from central ticketing today after going over by 3 minutes at tescos, I may contact them and suggest they save resources and pay us a joint visit.
  14. Thanks for the advice, I begrudge wasting the price of another stamp on these people so I think I'll wait and see if they turn up.
  15. Hello again, I have now received a letter this morning stating that 'we are now making arrangements for one of our collectors to visit you at home within 72 hours'. This is despite the fact they havent followed up their previous letter which was supposedly taking me to court. Can they actually visit me at home without a CCJ?
  16. Hi Not sure if this is the correct or best place to post this but I cant see anywhere more relevant Do I have a right to have my car repaired by a garage of my choice after a car accident (which wasn't my fault), my insurance company is trying to arrange repairs with a garage I have had a previous bad experience with and are not being to helpful with an alternative. Ta
  17. I wrote the letter as above and now have a new letter from CCScollect debt collectors with a formal notice of intended court action
  18. Thanks for the help Lamma, I will follow your advice.
  19. Sorry cant scan it until I'm back in work but here's what it says. Our clients have instructed us to collect the above outstanding parking fine as you have ignored all previous correspondence. As you were the registered keeper held by the DVLA at the time of the offence then you are liable for the outstanding debt. Failure to pay this fine immediately could lead to legal proceeding being issued against you. Then it just lists payment details.
  20. I'm not completely sure, their website states "The senior management of the company have been actively involved and contributed to the maintenance and development of A Code of Practice and maintain the company’s actions in line with the Credit Services Association"
  21. I have today received a letter from JB debt recovery (based in Glasgow), stating that as I was the registered keeper at the time of the 'offence' I am liable for the outstanding debt. My debt has now risen to £148.05! Am I right in sending a letter to the debt collector stating I am in dispute with the PPC or can I just ignore it? Thanks again.
