Hi all

In May 08 I bought a car, the owner said they'd send off the necessary bit to DVLA, I kept the green new owners bit, and I waited ............. .............

8 weeks passed, and I phoned up, they said they had a backlog, and to wait a bit longer.

In the meantime, the car tax ran out, so I used the green new keepers supplement to re-tax it.

Then I forgot about it until re-tax time, whereupon I realised I still had not had the new registration docs, and could not re tax.

I phoned up again, to say that they had had no advice from previous owner, so I would have to fill in a request for new registration documents. I did so, enclosing the green supplement, and sent it recorded delivery.

six weeks later I still have no car tax, no chance of getting it and no registration docs.

I have NEVER not had my car taxed, and guess what, the other day I drove past a scanner van.

Anyone any thoughts??

Regardless of whose fault it is, you are committing an offence if you have the vehicle on the road without VED.

You need to ring then tomorrow and get the new V5 from them PDQ.

You could have taxed the car using the V62 and the green slip. All you can do now is apply for VED using a V62 and pay the additional £25 fee for a new V5.
