Consumers will be receiving bills from utilities about now for a period that contains a significant price rise.

Their bills will contain an estimate of the meter reading on the day of the price rise. This will very likely be an underestimate as this will mean more units will be charged at a higher price. It wont be much but the utilities will make a few millions more.

If the reading at the end of the period is also an underestimate make certain you inform them of the true value. Otherwise though you will pay less on this bill the next bill will be will be higher and they will gain overall .

Is this a deliberate policy - usually bills are overestimated so that they get your money sooner.
