I have just had to resign from my current employment and have managed to get some self employed work. The thing is not sure how much I'll make, how long it will last etc.

Can I make a claim for housing benefit with not having an employer etc? Just giving an idea of earnings?

Cheers

You can always try - claim for tax credits and council tax benefit as well - you never know.

It might be worth going to your local CAB for a benefits check.

All help is merely my opinion only - please seek legal advice if you need to as I am only qualified in SEN law.

I was doing this once, a long time ago. They ask you for an estimate of your earnings, then just start paying out. The usual stuff applies about how if you income changes you must notify them etc - so you may end up having to pay some of the money back if your earnings go over what you estimated. I seem to remember they were surprisingly helpful actually

Thats pretty much it Webmaster.

What you have to do is complete a self employed form based on 6 or 12 months of your estimated profit and loss etc.

After 6 months you can then give them 6 months of actual accounts but as webmaster says....if your actual accounts are more than your estimated then you will have an overpayment.

They do take into account business expenditure too so the calculation is based on your profits and not just the income from self employment.
