Do you know how much in charges you want to claim for? You can go back 6 years.

Have a read around the FAQ's and the step by step process that should help you a lot in terms of timescale and what to do.

And don't forget to tell them that you dispute the amount they say you owe them, therefore they cannot default you for it.

Natwest CC - Claiming £804, SETTLED IN FULL at LBA stage

GF Natwest - claiming £749.33, moneyclaim filed - SETTLED IN FULL 04/08

MBNA: Claiming £150 - SETTLED IN FULL at LBA stage

Basically a default means that they have communicated with the credit reference agencies and given you bad credit. It then takes 3 or 6 years (i can't remember)of 'clean' living i.e not getting into any more financial trouble until you can clear your credit file. Also means that you would have problems getting credit until your file is clear.

I think this is right, but someone please correct me if i'm wrong, or at least explain it a bit better than i have.
