  1. Hello and welcome to the site with friendly people and hopefully advice to your needs and concerns......... Its always a choker when companys want money from you after such a small change, however as you state its in there terms and conditions, might you try one more phone call to them, and plea to there good nature, if you have been a good customer for many years there might wave the charge, even indicate that you are intending moving you custom else-where when your next renewal comes..... I know the insurance that i am with, charge £15.00 for such a change, and other charges dependant upon whats changed.... so your not alone..
  2. Sorry to hear about the recent flooding made by the washer, why you seeking the builders replace the damaged items, can you not claim from your contents insurance....the curtains can be just washed, or dry cleaned, how the pictures became damaged i'm trying to wonder ? The recifing of the waste pipe will be covered under builders insurance, the workmen will just re-do the work to make all safe.... All talk about the possiblie of court and judges etc etc are far far away, it will be settled before any such action will be deemed nessary.....
  3. hiya Its 56 days for CC transactions not for the normal bank accounts, so if you didnt have funds to cover the Derict debits which you state you didnt as your account was zero, so you will be charged for the bounced DDs The CC account, did you have a limit on the card, did you inform them you were leaving the country ? there might have zeroed your limit due to you leaving the country, check your account... Banks can try to take charges from any money placed into your account, however there is a letter for you to send to the bank, explaining the money going in, is that of benefits and is needed for things like food etc etc, once the bank gets this letter, there shouldnt take it from you, browse the site on letters, it will be there somewhere, if you cant find it, just yell and ill go find it for you.... Have you thought about crediting one account with funds from another that way you will only owe on one account rather than two, hence less charges...
  4. Good job your daughter has a good mum to sort her problems out, and that you noticed that this was a [problem], Did your daughter enter such a competion ? if you know you hav'nt entered such then you know the prize and claim is going to be nothing short of a [problem], Did there say what the £60 was taken for, and does it mention such in there terms and conditions ? Did your daughter authorise them to take such a payment, and why did she give her bank details over the phone to someone she doesnt know..... If she Didn't authorise the payment by the debit card transaction, then the bank should cover the loss, if you report it as a fraud transaction..... A great lesson learnt if you havn't entered such then you can't win.......
  5. Balance tranferrs can take mths if not years to repay, if you purchase anything after the transferr and fail to repay the BT then intrest on the purchase will continue to be added, and won't be repaid untill the BT is, so if the transferr is quite huge, try not to purchase anything on that card, just forget about it, untill you get the bal to zero.... Moving balances from one card to another, is Great as you will pay less intrest and repay the balance alot faster, but once a purchase is made that starts the decline of any good intentions you might have had....
  6. Are you saying you left the country with your account showing nil balance, then while you were away, a Direct Debit that you didn't cancel was tryed to be taken from one of your accounts, with nil funds, the DD was declined and you were charged for this... You should have cancelled ALL Direct Debits before you went... if the funds are not available and you havn't arranged a agreed overdraft, then the bank doesnt have to honour the DD .... and can charge for refusing the DD request... With respect your Credit Card account, you bought a ticket in NOV, hoping to repay the money in JAN, you only get 56 days before intrest and payment is due, so you didnt make any payment towards the balance on the CC hence you were charged for missing payments.... You had DDs coming out and had no funds to cover them in the account, banks don't pay DDs for free, you have to have money in the account for them to be honoured...You bought plane ticket, but made NO repayments, CCs dont give money away, its Credit not freebie.....
  7. Sorry to hear your still having a nightmare in getting your entitlement of tax credits paid into the correct account, the information on the computer, is only as good as the person whom inputted the information to start with, i really dought wether you can cca them, as there a state run dept, but someone with better knowledge might be able to say yes or no on that..... I would bombard them with daily phone calls, sometimes two or three times, i can-not see why for any reason why there cant just automate another payment into the correct account the same day, there have twice paid ur entitlement into the wrong account, think you need to stsrt been harsher with them, and explain the hardship that you are now enduring.....keep at them matey, its ur entitlement, so make sure you get it....
  8. Some people assist with some knowledge there think might help, others use stupid words in there attacking replys dont they PATDAVIES instead of belittling others that are trying to help, give ur thoughts upon the subject which you think you are a lord of law and words upon... You might be a platuim but your rude when choosing your words, Is the word edited really constructive and approicate to the thread ? you just wanted to dis-respect someone whom wanted/tryed to help the OP As for the comment about the police and insurance, every law abiding motorist knows All accidents need reporting, but not everyone wishes to follow the goodie goodie route, as such might/could cause more harm than good to those involved, the OP wants to settle without the insurance becoming notified, which should he/she desire such, that is there choice whether to inform there insurances... a little white lie to prevent there car been made scrap and given less than what the person whom did the damage offered to prevent the insurance involvement... So PATDAVIES think before slaying someone with wordings, it was not deserved nor warranted......you should be ashamed and know better..... Hope everything has been sorted OP to the requiements to suit urself and the other person..
  9. Legal and general act for many companies with there pensions, with some companies putting in the same percentage as the employee, i have no dought in my mind that having a pension for when you retire is the best way to go....... Not to give too much detail of my income, the NI you paid on that income is correct to the nearest penny.. taking into account the possiblity you pay 5% per mth to the pension, then the calulation of NI on that mth on that salary is 8% of the overall total payable... the pension contribution is taken out before any tax is deducted, the total changes slightly if you give to charities which again is deducted b4 any tax is taken... If you have been in the pension for near 25 years its abit late to start thinking whether it was worth it or not... just enjoy the benefits its going to give you in years to come, chances are you get life insurance on top of having the pension, as long as you are at that company, so extra scope for continued been init....
  10. Looking at the thread i think his dad is is no longer employed and claiming incapacity benefits, not SSP He has had a heart bypass and lost his Licence, so long term sickness may be what the lads talking about.... You state ur dad is living off £9k per year, thats neither SSP nor incapacity benefit figures... is it rolled up with payments from shares or stocks etc etc The benefits section will look at all in-comings for your dad, some will affect his benefits some won't, but its best to declare whatever funds he does have, to save any hassle and possible over-payments that might/could occurr.... After you have spoken to him, about where his income is from and what its made up of, you will be more clued up when trying to sort such complex matters... Hope ur dad is making a recovery from his operation...
  11. I've checked my accounts and your expected money hasn't come to me sadly hehehehehehe My Brother started work on Nov 5th and as yourself has said, the job centre fast tracked his working tax credits forms etc, on Dec 11th he recieved the very 1st payment from them, plus the backdated money, he now gets the tax credits every week on a tuesday... My own working tax credits only took 5 weeks to sort and start getting paid, which i now recieve on a monthly basis (monday) ... Hold on it there, things will get sorted, i truely think wtc depts are getting better... Can you not get assitance from the bank, in a way of arranged over-draft to cover things the wtc would be, just on a temp basis... Now you have recified the incorrect account number, all remaining tax credits will be paid on time, its just the 1st one that has gone astray, so by now you would have got another payment so near back on track.... did you opt for weekly payments or monthly which will depend on the sum of credits given and owed....
  12. If the driver whom bumped you, is wiling to go ahead and give you £500 to get ur car mended, take the offer, but make sure you get something in writing that addresses such, also you give him written notes of the payment will be in final payment for costs of fixing damaged car... etc etc With the other driver having a excess of £500 thats to keep his insurance premuim down, risky risky, but hey up to them i guess... But take his offer you could even sell ur car cheap and with the money from this chap aswell get urself something better... Alot of people are arranging such to pay for other peoples damage, to save on the mounting costs involved, no point ruining ncb etc etc for what can be paid for by mutuial agreement by both parties..... If however the bump/accident was police reported, then the matter changes, as both parties will have to inform there insurance companies...
  13. If the lady in question cant afford to pay the differance, it might be sensible for her to down size to a dwelling that the goverment/council will make full allowances for/to... A 4 bedroomed house for herself and two children is okay in pratise, but when it becomes unaffordable, then it is practicale to down-size, the council will most likly pay rent in full to a dwelling of a smaller size.... If cutting back on items such as heating/food etc just to stay in the large house, then she really needs to move and give the extra money to the up keep of the things she might have to cut back upon....most large familys would love to be able to rent such a large house, but money becomes a factor and payments become a struggle, resulting in further damage down the line....ie arrears even reprossions/evictions etc
  14. Glad u got the TV was beginning to think it was a [problem] buy, leave the money in ur account, that way it is there when there request it again from the bank, dont be tempted to spend it, as you will indeed go over drawn when it comes to making the payment... sounds like you got a bargain with the price of the TV.... so dont let that bargain become a nightmare....
  15. Think you have all the resources to hand, to look into the matter, better than anyone of us could.... you could ignore the payment request and let it be passed to DCA then you can seek all the info from them, chances are you might have had a loan which you have just forgot about, 8 years is a long time.....
  16. These trollies do have a mind of there own as any shopper will tell you, trying to keep 1 steady while doing the shopping is a job in itself, never mind a row of them, the store has a obligation to record all accidents however minor, why didnt you re-enter the store straight away and make your complaint, i know ur child might have been crying, which would have added to the complaint more, but you really should have addressed the matter there and then, thankfully you have wittnesses, whom if required will add value to your statment of events, i'm more than sure the store trollie collector meant no harm to you ur child or anyone else, and this was more than likly just a unfortunate accident.... What do you want from your complaint, the trolly lad sacked or retrained, an risk accessment been retaken for the job entailed, a moneyary settlement...... Children are made of rubber when it comes to minor bumps, falls, and knocks, a quick visit to your gp will more than likly show no damage done, and with the added protection of the arm cast covering the broken arm, im show it was well protected..... I know we are over protective of our children, even more so when danger is near by, no one can predict whats round the corner, not even a run away trolly....
  17. As you have stated, when the cheque arrived, the person knew that this money wasn't hers, and even contacted the council to inform them of this, now that the council have noticed there mistake, the money to give them back has indeed been used to buy a car with, alas spent money knowing full well it wasn't there's to spend, why didnt she just return the money when it arrived to save this hassle now, temptation got the better of her, and now she faces finding £1000 to repay the council.... What are the opitions now, the money still needs repaying, unless someone knows of a flaw that means that it doesnt ? sounds as if she doesnt have the money to return in one go, so the best advice is to make contact with the said council and offer to repay the money in monthly installments.... Your thread indicates trying to find a flaw whether the council can indeed request there money back, and what actions there will take to recoup the money..... Did your friend get in writing that the money was hers when it was 1st sent to her, i'm guessing she didnt... it will need repaying..... Problem Paying? We Can Help If you are having a problem paying your rent for whatever reason, visit your local Housing Office as soon as possible. Staff will be able to help you sort out your rent problem and give you advice on who to contact for further debt advice if you need it. By acting quickly, you are showing a commitment to paying your rent and the legal action the Housing Department has to take to collect arrears may not be needed. You may prefer to go to an independent advice organisation such as the Citizens' Advice Bureau but it is still vital that you contact your Housing Office. I know the site is for problem paying rent, but it will also give advice on over-payments which has happened in this case...
  18. Was the Dwelling and Garage on Two seperate rental documents/agreements ? Or were both upon the same rental agreement ? Two friends of mine had the same problem three years ago, thankfully the two agreements were seperate in there case, and there successfully sued the council for loss of belongings...but read the agreements 1st before anything else....
  19. One quote isnt always the cheapest as one would say, we all shop around for the best deal before getting any work started, even since you are going through your insurance, i might guess there have deals with firms whom deal with such problems as your facing, therefore get better value for the money there end up paying out, and DR might be too expensive hence not upon the insurance books of Abby.... Saying that Gyzmo has been employed by this Abby so would indeed go with what he has said, theres never better advice than someone whos from the horses mouth so to speak.... However if ur house fell down and ur neighbours would you let the same builder rebuild both houses without consulting your insurances 1st.... In your insurance small print, it might read that claims will be dealt with by third parties under Abbys instrutions.....Personnally i would let DR do the work, better than having C**p etc coming into the road or worse still been walked into your home, and let DR and Abby sort the money problem out... However under clauses in the small print you could be held responible for payment to DR should Abby refuse to payout upon the claim....i'd tred careful on this matter...Hope you get the work done soon to avoid un-nessary smells etc...
  20. Who Runs the catalogue, the person whos name is registered of owning the said catalogue is the agent on behalf of empire, is responisble for making sure payments are collected and sent to empire stores. If there order for other people, like family or friends, there are still responsible if these people miss payments.... Unless of course you signed anything to state you had ordered from the catalogue, hence you would then be liable to pay as per the said agreement with the agent and empire....
  21. Hiya Did you visit your local thomson and explain the thoughts you have, also have you took a read through there terms and conditions on cancelling bookings and deposit returns, i'll read through them later, as ive booked through thomson for the last 7 years with no problems..... You mentioned something about points, that you earned at the hotel last year, sadly that was with the last owner, if the new owner doesnt part-take in such, then the points will be worthless, its like gaining points at a store, that store sells up, the next owner doesnt have to honour the points...as that system was with the last hotel owner... unless of course the new owner agrees to buy everything, even such as the points you mention.... My own 1st port of call would be thomson, and take things from after that visit, you never know there might have the answers to your worries.... Have you already taken any insurance out for the holiday or have you a yearly policy, not saying you should follow this route, but what does it read about you cancelling the holiday, and if any what terms are there in doing so, ie refunds etc...
  22. As my 1st reply to the thread stated, the advice given at the time of you been dismissed, was most likly the best opitions for you at the time, if you want to persue a case against the union for not advicing you in the correct manner/way, my gut instinct tells me, there will be no case to answer.... If you are currantly in a union, some offer free solitors for half hr consultations, check with your union if you have legal plus services.... Ask yourself many qustions before following the route of trying to blame the union for you being dismissed, even if there gave differant advice would it have stopped you being dismissed, if the union thought for just one second that the company was dismissing you wrongly there would have fought the case with tooth and nail....if you in any way felt you were not been given good advice, you could have asked for another rep to represent you, your options at the time were unlimited.... You accepted a payoff of £500 which in itself indicates that the dismissal was justified.... Accept what has happened and move on with the next chapter in your life...Pointing blame at other people for something that u urself brought upon isnt going to get your old job back....
  23. If you have your own insurance, and have the Legal plus/protection service, there will take on any further claims you might have, even some unions offer leagl plus for such, so consult them also, if you are in a union...But seek the advice of your own insurers directly...If your boyfriend has now been convicted of this offence by the courts, why hasnt damages been claimed via the courts ? Hope you both are now recovering okay and all the best...
  24. Welcome to the site Boxman........ Glad you have found us.... Very unfortunate happenings with your property buying, sorry things havn't worked out as you had being planning, i would think the matter be addressed to your own solicitors be the best advice, i'm sure someone with housing knowledge will be along to assist you better than i have, house buying is never a easy exprience to say the least, even more so when such happens, hold tight there and someone will be along... try keep positive....
  25. Firstly bring this matter to the attention of thomson again, and get them to investigate whether the holidays will be honoured by the new owner ? If you think you no longer want to trust them, think about going with another hotel that is close to the one you have booked, but really think it is up to thomson to obtain the information for customers that have already booked.... just think if you got there and the hotel owner sent you packing, save the hassle now before you travel and save what might be hassle later... You could laways ask the new owner if there have bought the customers aswell as the hotel...but thomson should do the running around after all said and done....
