  1. cheques cheques cheques a safe way to send and receive money, as long as you can wait to get ur hands on the wad lol most banks take 3 to 10 working days, for cheques to clear, the bset i know, is the halifax, where a cheque takes three working days, i have two accounts with them, one account takes ten days for a clearance and the other takes just three to clear, as for the person whom gave me the cheques, it comes out of they account within 2 working days, so best to have the money ready and waiting before writing any cheques to anyone, as people can pay extra for fast clearance, at a fee of between £12.00 and £24.00, i'm lucky really as i do all my banking on line now, which shows me instantly of transactions. hope i,ve assisted in some way to your thread. thanks.
  2. seems you have fallen prey to the dreaded wardens my friend, myself had over stayed the fee i had paid, and got a nasty ticket on my screen, had to pay the money harsh as it was. you paid untill 16.11 hrs and was ticketed at 16.26 due to you over staying, these people sit and wait for the fee/time to expire then pounce, result, big fine, you could try argue the point, i'm sure the nice peeps on the forum might have few suggestions to hand. dont leave it over the 14 days though if ur going to pay, as this will make the fine double, even more if you ignore it completly. i know its harsh for such a low price, and just a few mins over stay? i;ve been biten twice already, and never again, better to pay for a extra hour whether i need it or not, than get a big fine.
  3. ello every1. just to up-date. last day of month and no response what so ever, seems things have come to a halt:confused:, do i make contact with them, to seek whats happening or carry on waiting? i'd perferr to see the next stage, rather than sit and get a nasty shock in 3 to 6 months when they remember me. Any ideas people. thanks
  4. still awaiting further contact, oh well no news is bad news so there say lol hope every1 is ok
  5. Good thread will keep an eye out for up-dates. I myself bought a used car from a garage, my little clio, the dealer had just put 6 mths tax on it, however after i bought the car from him, he stopped the payment for the tax disc, after 2 letters from the tax office, and two phone calls to him, he finally paid up, 23 days after i bought the car, the front exhaust needed replacing, at a cost of £65.00 to myself, i never knew i could seek the seller to pay for it, but hey i'll remember next time, anyhow, the story is, i've learnt by them mistakes, and i will always make sure i have a vehicle check done, b4 parting with any hard earned cash. Hope you manage to bring this garage to justice m8y, end of day, he must have known the car you bought had this problem, yet still sold you it, eres hoping you get the seller to pay up and more.
  6. Letter from CAPQUEST about my supposingly debt owed? Wrote as there letter reads. We can confirm we have requested this information directly from NWB however we are still awaiting a response. Your account is currantly on hold, and if any interest is been appiled this will be frozen. We will contact you again within 28 days to adivse of the situation. If NWB respond to us within that time period, we will contact you immediately to resolve this matter. My thoughts>>>>> over a month since i wrote the above letter, ( see thread ) Yet just keep getting the same basic reply from them? given them well over a month to get information relating to this matter to me, without avail, there even said any interest would be frozen, so why has the figure increased 4 times since i made contact with them? it seems everytime there write to me, there bang an extra 5% on the debt, one has now gone through the £700 barrier the other now fast approaching £400, yet the sums were alot less b4. It seems to me, there are just leaving things, and writing to me every now and then with the same letter, ( which i have kept every1 ) and increasing the debt each time, do i have to give them more time as per there request, or have i given them long enough. Hope some1 can assist with this issue, the longer there drag it out, the more i feel down. End of day, i never owed NWB and yet i'm facing all this.?
  7. Just read this thread, and its stopped as per the one above? Does any1 have any idea whether this guy and his mother won there money back? know it was march but only been member short while and lots of threads to get through. Hopefully he got verything he and his mam were entitled to....
  8. There are still married in the eye of the law since NO divorce was filed through the courts. As for the son still claiming the dads benifits after his passing away, this is a matter for them to take up, as this is a criminal offence, the probate was the 1st cause of action for a friend of mine in a similar postion, The wife is entitled to make a full claim to any assets her husband may have left, although this action can be fought in the courts, since there had'nt been together for 15 yrs plus, although the courts might see favourable to the wife? the courts will also make sure his children gain through this method, Has the funeral been paid for ? If so, i'm sure there can not with hold the fathers ashes, regardless of what the son desires ( more so if he is'nt the executor/adminstrator of the fathers will/estate ) , something that a solicitor might be able to in-force, most solicitors give a FREE half hr consultation, my best advice, is take a free half hr and i'm sure any solicitor will sort this un-happy matter for your friend. Hope all goes okay, take care
  9. Thanks for getting back so soon, yep just as you say, i thought. Just have to wait now, i have looked upon my credit report/history, and nothing is showing from the bank or this collection company, so all okay on that side of things. Still little miffed that these peeps think i owe them though, but lets see what info there send when there get round to it. Again thanks and chat soon .
  10. Good out come. Threats are'nt always the best course of action, how ever sometimes there are needed in the correct manner and text, i appricate your anger at this matter, even more so with you having small children around, i was gonna recommend some small ways to handle things, but hey you got the job done, which at the end of the day, thats what you were requiring.. yes... hopefully come next week, when its bin collection day, that the lads don't miss your house again, i can just picture your face if that did happen hahahahha bye for now.
  11. Hiya hope your all enjoying the great weather? Just to give you a up-date regarding my thread, a reply greeted me upon my arrival home today (19/06/2006) it reads .... Dear ****** Power of Attorney: National Westminster Bank Balance: **** May i add there have increased the figure from there last letter. Further to your recent contact with our office and your request for further information in relation to the above account, we confirm that your account is now on hold for 28 days whilst we obtain the information required. Yours sincerely ******** Collections Administration Department This letter is excatly the same as the one pervious, again saying account on hold for 28 days, there hav'nt even menioned the letter i sent them dated 04/07/2006 so in the same postion as just under a month back? Only thing that has changed is the supposingly debt that is owed, there balance has INCREASED since there last letter on both account figures? Do i make contact with them again, by sending the same letter back, or shall i just wait this one out, and see what there next letter reads? Thanks alot shywazz
  12. If you contact the bulk waste section of the council, there will arrange a collection for a saturday, this can be done by e.mail or by phone, it is within the councils best intrest to keep the streets clean and tidy, many times i have used the bulk collection system and had fast results, i know your items are only of recylable things, it may be the case of, waiting untill the next expectant date of collection, it may even be adviseable to keep an eye out upon the day there do collect, and if there pass you by again, then you could shout them across to take it? As for them paying for a skip after you might obtain one, afraid its a no no no chance of happening, the councils have limited funding, and there are many other opitions that are available, in my experances giving them chance to act is best way of resolving such matters. Should the items now be-comming a health hazzard to your self or your children, then contact the health dept of the council, however this is only advisable if the waste is attracting unwanted wild life, ie mice/rats/ and other furry runners.
  13. Hiya... To date no response to letter i sent ? keep you posted.
  14. Hiya just started similar contact with dca after there wrote seeking 2 lots of money after there said there were acting on behalf of Natwest. This was from over 6 years ago on a closed account ? some kind people on ere are helping me with stuff, look under Natwest threads, maybe some might be of use to you.
  15. I bought a R reg Clio ( the old model ) in March this year, Great little runner, however have noticed in the recent warm weather, that the little minx does stall at times, i put this down to myself not controlling the revs and clutch good enough, my partner does'nt have the same problem with the Escort. nor do i when i borrow it, i have also noticed that when i 1st use the car in the morning, the 1st time i brake, i hear a slight scraping noise, this i have had checked at kwik fit, and i'm assured nothing is wrong with the brakes etc. another thing that bafflied me. but all said and done, i find the clio a great little car, great for the city where i live and good on fuel consumtion.. Keep hold of the car, as it wont lose much in value.
  16. Read with much intrest ( excuse the pun ) well done m8y and enjoy.
  17. Letter posted 06/07/2006 await reply ?
  18. Hi Barracad Thanks, just typing the letter as i send this. will let you know there response. I was told the same from a friend, but thought NW had simply sold the supposed debt to this debt collection company. As for them seeking £266.62 and £589.11 i never had that much in my account when i had it with them. I,m guessing i,m been charged for these two letters there sent aswell. ? Thanks alot and will let you know once i hear from them.
  19. Hiya.. The letters arrived June 25th and dated june 20th 2006
  20. ello Barracad Thanks for ur posting, the last contact with the bank NW was back in March 2000 I hav'nt had any direct contact with the bank NW as yet since then, just two letters from a company acting on the banks behalf. Claiming i owe two amounts of money.? Thanks
  21. Hi and much thanks for giving some of ur advice, sadly i have moved 3 times since 2000 when i had the account with NW, I have no paperwork with respect this account, ( going into the bank seems a good idea ) the last contact with the bank itself, was back in 2000. The 1st i heard of any monies owing was when these two letters arrived from a company acting on behalf of NW. With work committments, i wont be going the bank till thurs, but will keep you informed. Lets hope this can sort itself out. At the moment i remain puzzlied with this matter. Thanks Sues35 and barracad
  22. Hello everyone. Back in 2000 i had a account with the Natwest Bank. which i thought i had closed before moving away, and thought the account had no money in it nor had any monies owing. since this account did not have any o/d and was used purely for wages to go into. June this year i received a letter from a Debt recovery company saying i owed 2 amounts of money on the closed account, one figure near 300 ponds the other over 500 pounds. and this company is acting on behalf of NW This has come as quite a shook to myself, as i knew nothing about such monies owed, ( if it is owed ) i have e.mailed this company to halt any further letters etc, to which there have agreed a 28 day holding on any further action, allowing me time to look into this matter. Please assist me in starting the ball rolling with any enquires that i might have to make, thank you .
