  1. My phone is with Sky so not sure what the rates are.... I will go for the cca1974 sounds like a good idea.. sorry I havent' answered today as Ive been at the hospital all day... when I feel better in the morning (hopefully) I'll try to get my head round all your replies, I am grateful for your responses. I am very tempted to stop paying, but too scared that the nasties will start up again.. I did find out today that I had actually been paying two companies for one and the same debt. one was MKDP? and the other for the same account I was also paying D&G Solicitors, so I pulled the plug on that one, Nice of them to tell me my mistake (not).. thanks again guys.... much appreciated. xxxx
  2. Yes DX alway the bloody threatograms.. (
  3. Yes uncle I think I did have a couple of periods of not paying.. . then got scared by the threatograms.... Im not disputing that I owe the debts.. . just that I get so many letters from new credit companies that I lose track of who I am paying and for what. I haven't done cca's or credit checks for the reason that I know I owe the money but just can't pay the amount that they want every month. I can pay them all at two pounds a month but they still keep chasing me for in and outgoings. They won't accept the i&e by post and won't supply me with forms, they want me to go through my personal money details ie which bills etc I am paying, and I refuse to do that on an 0845 number...
  4. it's MKDP, they are collecting both debt's but seperately, I have one on standing order and one on faster payment with my bank.. . I haven't checked my credit file, I don't know how I am paying both debts off at £2 per month
  5. Thanks for clearing that up, will send them off a letter today xxx
  6. Hi again friends, I am getting really confused with two of my debts, but refuse to ring the numbers given on these letters... I have two debts outstanding with HSBC, one was a current account overdraft and the other was a credit card. I have been paying these off at a very low rate for quite a while now, one with MKPD and the other with metropolitan. I have had a letter this morning telling me that the debt has been referred for immediate collection with central debt recovery unit. and that I must pay the balance by 18.10.12 I see on the bottom of the letter that this is a "trading style of Metropolitan collection services ltd." Should I carry on ignoring these letters and just keep letting the standing orders go through as usual, or should I contact them. I am getting really worried now as I am getting confused as to who is getting what???
  7. well well, it turns out that the guy I suspect, as I've said is the manager of our local pub,, I was chatting to another regular today and it seems the pub is to close this weekend, the man has been made redundant and must be off the premises by Saturday lunchtime.. I think I got off lucky now, as if he has found somewhere else to live he could have moved on without me being any the wiser and I couldn't chase him without a forwarding address. to think that he could have spent a lot more is frightening. I think I'll just count my blessings and put his misfortune down to Karma. Luckily I have cancelled all the cards I had in my purse and new ones are on their way.. Thanks for all the good advice though friends xxxx
  8. I know I can't and won't accuse without proof, that's why I need the number, then the brewery can check if it's his or not. I think that the phone was topped up over the telephone so all he needed would be the card number and the three digit security code. I am still waiting for the fraud letter from capital one with the details of the transactions on.
  9. Many thanks, I did actually phone the police and they said that capital one should be the ones to chase for fraud as it was theft from them. I will write to O2 and enquire about the number though as I just don't see why this creep should get away with it... I wondered if I should inform the Brewery who own the pub because this man is supposed to be in a position of trust (surely?) and if I can't trust him with my purse for a day then that's very sad. also I think he should get his come-uppance. but I understand I need to be 100% sure it's him, but he claims that only himself and the hander in touched my purse, and if he's the only one on O2 network then surely it's case closed??
  10. I didn't know where to put this so hope you'll help. I left my purse in the pub on Saturday, according to the manager it was handed in immediately. now here's where it goes.... I got a call from capital one telling me someone had used my card to make some purchases and to top up a phone with O2. When I picked the purse up on Monday I asked the manager just out of curiosity you understand, which network he was on. He told me Vodafone, now the manager is a well known drinker so Monday afternoon I went to buy the hander in a drink but he wasn't there, so I mentioned to the manager that I had bought a new phone and wanted to know what he thought of the Orange network, his reply was,,, "don't know love I'm with O2" Now my question is... is there any way I can get the number of the phone that was topped up with my card? or is the data protection act going to scupper me from getting justice. Thanks. Jan
  11. Thanks for that info Donkey, but how come they can get away with asking me (and presumably other unsuspecting peeps) for money, what if I was some poor little old lady that was frightened into paying.... they shouldn't be allowed to get away with that.... p.s. I am a poor little old lady, but I'm not scared
  12. and now this morning I get a statement from Barclaycard, I can't keep up.... who do I pay, Barclaycard or Mercers.
  13. Thanks, I'm almost tempted to stop paying out of sheer bloody mindedness, do people get taken to court just for 175 quid?? out of all my debts barclaycard have been the most pig headed
  14. thanks for the help, I'll ask them for a cca. I have been getting statements for ages but nothing on them only the outstanding amount. They did stop charging me interest about three months ago when I told them I would stop paying altogether as it was getting ridiculous. I'll read up on the threads to see how I go about getting the info I need. many thanks xxxx
  15. I have a debt with Barclaycard, it's only for £175 but I am on DLA and finding things hard, I have been paying them £2 per month as I have my other debts (some of which are for thousands of pounds.) all the other lenders have been great and have accepted my payments. This morning I get a letter from Mercers telling me I need to pay £30 to clear the arrears. I am sure that B/c have previously charged me late fees and I may even have PPI with them, how can I find out? Thanks in advance for any helpful replies. xx Jan xx:|
  16. :bounce:I was having a really bad day one way or another and when I had finished laughing at that, things didn't see quite so bad
  17. Hi I sold a car on Ebay, the auction finished on Sunday, it's now Thursday. First the buyer contacted me after a couple of days asking me to phone him to arrange collection, but he didn't give me a number to ring. I e mailed him and told him he could collect anytime asap. I heard nothing for a couple more days then an e mail saying he had been called to work. Then a few more emails asking more about the car and nothing since. My problem is the insurance runs out on the 31st and I don't know what to do about it. I thought he should have picked it up by now,,, should I e mail him again and risk being ignored or start an unpaid item dispute. By the way, this chap had 0 feedback but does have some things for sale, so he's only just joined Ebay.
  18. I had the same sort of thing happen to me, but with another product... he wanted a refund and said he would return the goods once the money was in his account... yeah right..... I told him that I had taken legal advice ( I hadn't) but I knew basically the e-bay rules... I said I would refund the goods once I had received them back and that he had to pay the postage for the return of goods. I reminded him that I had accurately described the item and any faults it may have had.. and he had ample time to ask any questions regarding this. Once he realised I was onto his [problem], he backed down and then told me he was in fact happy with the goods, he then left me positive feedback which I returned, (no point in being nasty), I really think sometimes you need to call people's bluff as there are too many rip off merchants out there... Hope you get a good result with this but don't let this person intimidate you...
  19. Sounds exactly the same as the situation I am in with HSBC even down to the MKPD letters, I am paying MKPD and DG solicitors at the rate of two pounds per month just to keep them off my back but I would also like to know how to go about getting my PPI back so will await replies to this thread with bated breath. Thanks for starting the thread
  20. So after reading this thread, does this mean that if I am in the support group and getting ESA that I can transfer it to Spain, bearing in mind that I am not actually living in Spain yet but would like to now that my career and working life are effectively over. I have very bad Rheumatoid Arthritis which my doctor and rheumatologist are struggling to bring under control.
  21. Well Ive been put in the support group and told I can no longer work. Although there is no mention of a timescale for my benefit.. it's pretty definate my working days are over. I wondered that seeing as I am now unable to work again can I export my ESA to another EU country.? I know I can take my care component from my DLA. and in the old days you could take your Incapacity benefit, but now the law's changed I want to know if I can take my ESA. It would be nice to know that I could go and enjoy a bit of sun on my poor bones without losing my money, as there's really nothing left to stay in this country for. Any advice gratefully received.
