  1. T2, I reckon you should actually phone Moorcroft up and complain that you have not received anything in a yellow envelope from them. You should, of course, follow this up in writing making sure that you type your letter on yellow paper and send it in a yellow envelope just so that they don't feel left out. You never know, but they might just mark your file 'fruitcake' and leave you alone . Like the sound of a yellow envelope with grey checks - very groovy. Is 'electronically sent' just another way of saying 'computer generated' do you think? Yes, think you had better pay the water bill... then again my ex is being chased by them for not paying the water bill and this is what has resulted in them sending the yellow envelopes. Now might be your chance!!!!
  2. lol. Best to ask though. The fact that she sounded nice should have told you that she couldn't have been from a DCA
  3. I'd love to get me titters out for Moorcroft - especially if one of their representatives should come a-knocking :D Would guarantee that they would never come back again, after all, who wants to see a woman standing on her doorstep tittering out loud eh? On second thoughts, perhaps I'd better not. I mean, I don't want to mock the afflicted. Most of Moorcrofts staff must be afflicted or they wouldn't work there would they?
  4. Hi. I was in exactly the same position as you about 3 years ago. All my balances were being passed to the likes of Mercers and Newman & Co, but unlike you I did not have the sense to find this place! I could have saved thousands, and I mean thousands, if only I had known about things like CCA and SARs. Please listen to the advice given here and ask as many questions as it takes to sort things out, because believe me you really will be able to get things under control on your terms. It will take a bit of nerve to stand up to these DCAs and their tactics, but trust me when I say that you can when armed with the right information. Please don't panic (easier said than done, I know) but you have taken a massive step in the right direction. You have already done the right thing by only communicating in writing. It doesn't guarantee that they won't still try to harrass you by 'phone, but it does mean that you have more of a leg to stand on if you want to then do them for harrassment. Good luck. The people on here are an absolute mine of information and, when armend with information you will begin to find you have power
  5. Glad you've had a bit of a laugh Loopin. Does us all good to have a giggle from time to time. Perhaps Moorcroft should read this and realise that their multicoloured correspondence makes us titter
  6. OMG. NOT...... A RED ONE!!! I have a box of Christmas cards with red envelopes. Do you think I can issue demands for money to all my friends and relatives based on that?
  7. How about contacting Dominic Littlewood at the BBC? He is great at championing causes where people have been treated in a less than helpful and/or respectful manner. In your case, David Lloyd have behaved in an absolutely dispicable manner. Who the hell does the manager think he is to make your wife undergo what is nothing short of an interrogation. Under the circumstances, I don't think there was any need for him to expect your wife (or even you) to have to go through that, and the facts alone should allow him to cancel your membership. It sounds to me like he was being vindictive simply because he could be. I suspect that he could easily cancel for you if he so chose. I am being serious about contacting Dominic Littlewood as I suspect he would be appalled to hear your story (as would most of the country) and it would be dealt with without you being named. David Lloyd have behaved in a particularly uncaring manner, and I think the manager in question should be held to account. These are just my personal thoughts of course, but I am sure I will not be alone in expressing them. Good luck to you, and my best wishes to your wife.
  8. I think yellow is a fairly recent addition to their rainbow of stationery. What colour did you get then?
  9. I believe the fee was a thousand pounds, but they were happy to negotiate. Wonder if Arthur the sailor could claim back unfair charges?
  10. Hi, yes you can still sell your property - infact that is probably what the holders of the charges want you to do!!! There are charges on my property and I was advised that if I was to sell then I would probably need a specialist solicitor who deals with this sort of thing. Best thing for you to do would be to approach 2 or 3 and see a) whether or not they do have to specialise and b) how much they charge.
