  1. Of course.. The time it takes for cheques to clear is one of The Great Mysteries of the Universe.
  2. If they supply your statements FOC, fine carry one with your claim. One of the recent defences the banks have been putting forward is that the charges are so high is that there is manual intervention in each case(patent nonsense of course, but..). If you make a SAR you can ask for details of this manual intervention which will rather spike their guns. Of course, this is upto you but I think its £10 well spent. I also think that this is the reason that some of them are keen on supplying statements FOC.
  3. Welcome. First you need to read the FAQs and around the forum. This will take a couple of days but you will have all of the answers you need. Having done this, if you have any further questions, come back here. Keep us posted on your claim.
  4. My perception is: Illegal - can be prosectuted in a criminal court Unlawful - you have to seek redress in a civil court
  5. Maybe, but there are a lot of accidental disconnections.
  6. You don't have to fill in their form. Write back to them and tell them that you have already made a DPA request, and that the 40 days started the day they took £10 out of your account.
  7. Don't let them dictate the pace - they will delay and delay in the hope that you will give up. Keep to your timetable.
  8. Open another account elswhere now The co-op and Natwest seem to be prefered options for ease of opening accounts. This is the first time that I've seen Abbey write this. They are trying to scare you. Obviously, this your decision and your money.
  9. Welcome. First of all read the FAQs and around the forum. This will take some time but you will find the answers you want and more. Then if you have questions come back.

    DPA request

Not necessary. It's OK to send to your branch. They will route to wherever.
  11. No, you are entitled to make your clai - you do not have to accept any offer that is less than that which you are claiming. You can point out to the bank that if you make a claim in the County Court you will add interest and the court fees to their costs.
  12. And you should report them to IC if they don't comply with your request.
  13. Obviously, the banks are now briefing their staff (incorrectly). You know better. Keep at it.
  14. Yes carry on when you get the statements. They are being difficult about manual intervention aren't they. Probably a stall ing device. I suggest that you write back saying you wish to see what intervention was made on the imposition of each charge. Send them the chque again.
  15. Accept neither offer. Tell them that they have 6 days to comply with your DPA request and unless they comply you will report them to the Information Commissioner. Do this in writing. If you don't get your info, come back and we can discuss your options.
  16. Go for it. Are you going to serve in person? That is very satisfying.
  17. It looks very much like it. See what others think.
  18. Well done. Keep us posted. Did you send £10.
  19. Welcome and well done. I take it this was a DPA request - if so did you send £10? Thanks for posting your 2 claims in the right places. It really is helpful
  20. They have acknowledged your request and said they would do it FOC. If it comes to a complaint, send a copy of that letter with it.
