  2. I've received a letter saying around £100 plus another £80 of compensatory interest is to be refunded to my account reflecting a mistake in charging overdraft interest to my student account which I opened in 1998. I called the remediation operations as directed by the letter to sort out at least the charges, but the representative I spoke to wasn't able to help much, but she said that this should represent all interest charged to the account. It doesn't match up with even my last 6 years of statements, which total ten times this much, plus several charges. I've previously claimed my
  3. This is absolutely true, especially upon winning.
  4. Don't let them stall your claim, don't call them or allow them to dictate the timetable for your action! Stick to your timetable, it doesn't matter whether they reply or not, you've sent the letters and you've got evidence they have had them - recorded delivery is fine, I believe proof of postage is considered sufficient and is free! It's important for everyone to stick to their timetable, I didn't, and it made me look weak in the eyes of the bank, who then messed me around.
  5. Thanks for your advice conniff. The pedal did drop to the floor when I braked hard, but not during normal driving. When I had it in Kwik Fit, the fluid was spurting out when it was pressed hard.
  6. Thanks pkea, that's what I've done. I couldn't return Cobbetts' N279 forms in any case as they had made a glaring error..... I'm going for wasted costs now.
  7. Bump this for someone in the know!
  8. From what I understand when Kwik fit did a brake check, I believe the leak was from the nut that connects the flexible hose with the brake pipe. The nut wasn't tight, so fluid was leaking out under braking. Kwik fit did not do the original repair and are in no way responsible for the problems.
  9. I've had a letter and cheque through from Cobbetts for full and final settlement, the cheque has just cleared. Cobbetts included two N279 notices of discontinuance and asked for these to be sent. Should I be filling these in if I am to claim wasted costs? I'll actually have to make new N279 forms as Cobbetts have managed to fill the two they sent to me incorrectly... I can't find reference to what I should be doing with these N279's on the forum. The guide simply says to write to the court saying the matter is settled.
  10. Hi Conniff and pat, The front and rear discs and pads were replaced and came to around £300, plus the front suspension arms and rear bushs were replaced, it was around £600 total. I think the quote was reasonably fair considering the scope of the work, my problem is with the brakes leaking and not working!
  11. I made one claim for both accounts. Just include both account numbers and sort codes when necessary in the letters and the claim. Be careful if you get to the court stage as the particulars of the claim may not fit on Moneyclaim Online (MCOL) if two account numbers are included, in this case, simply file through your local court.

  13. anyone have any feedback on this?
  14. Send a new preliminary approach letter and start again using the charges you didn't include, they'd be crazy not to settle before court this time!
