  1. Can anyone advise me please, I'm a landlord and have had a tenant living in my property for over 6 years, only a small deposit given and I didn't put into a protected thing, I now need to get the property back and the tenant says I need to evict them as they want a council property, what can I do?
  2. I am so very sorry to hear this news. I did not know him but I am sure his advice and support has helped me and many others on this site which people like him have made this place somewhere they can get justice and fight for their rights. God bless.
  3. Thank you much for your response Marmaris, and yes I too would be keen to know if anybody else has heard of a landlord being takent to court over this. Anyone out there can advise:sad:
  4. Can anyone advise please? Have a normal mortgage, no problems, left a few years ago due to a previous partner and I was scared so I rented the property out privately, thinking I would go back eventually and it would only be a temporary situation, I should have changed the mortgage over at the time to landlords mortgage but I know this sounds daft but the time just went on and now I believe I never will return there to live, but my problem is although I do want to change the mortgage, will the mortgage company want all the back payments of the 1% extra interest which would have been the extra I would have been charged? I feel in a no win situation and even though I want to do it right I'm worried what the mortgage company will do if I tell them. Any constructive advice would be appreciated.
  5. But arn't Halifax connected to Lloydstsb somewhere?
  6. I did ask for a basic current account and was told it was too expensive for them to open one, savings account with a cash card was the only other option, unless I changed my complete banking over to them, which I can't because I owe all this money to Lloydstsb, loan and huge overdraft
  7. Well, I have opened a basic account with another bank, Barclays, but they have said a savings only account, can only draw money, no direct debits or standing orders available to me, am really nervous about approaching Lloyds about financial difficulties, can they just take any monies going into my account as I havent got time to move my mortgage, insurance etc before my loan payment is due, if I go and speak with them in the morning can they refuse to 'freeze' for the time being?
  8. Thank you for your advice, just hope I can get another account, seems a problem recently, is there any reason why a bank won't give someone an account?
  9. I have a bank loan taken 3 years ago and I'm really struggling trying to pay back the payments, £370pm, I also have a £3,000 overdraft which is maxed out and I don't know to do to try and reduce the payments and overdraft, can anyone advise please
  10. Can anyone advise, I am a T mobile customer of 6 years almost, my monthly plan is approx £26, give or take a couple of pounds, happy as larry with it then I got a bill for £364:!: I was so shocked, called them assuming they had made a mistake but they said no they haven't, I had gone over my monthly allowance and that was the bill! Then went on to say if I had a booster in place (apparently I'd qualified for one before this bill), it would have reduced the bill to other T Mobile phones by approx £170 but they will put one on my phone now! I was at my wits end, emailed to ask for help as I couldn't understand the bill or how I'd gone over so much and I did explain to them it could have been due to the fact my brother died suddenly in early April and a lot of calls must have gone on, but honestly, £364, they can see I've never had a bill like that, how can I work out if they have it right or wrong, have they no mercy, I'm a loyal customer, never had a problem, I'm totally stressed:???:
  11. Thank you Uncle, but isnt there must be some kind of margin they can work within, I'm assuming this is legal, (although grossly unfair), isn't there some kind of agency/ombusman that stops insurance companies ripping people like me off, it is daylight robbery and totally unprofessional and downright wrong:x I feel liked a victim of street robbery but nobody can help even though I know the criminal:???:
  12. Really sorry, I forgot to mention a really important thing, current insurers did not have to pay for any previous subsidence problem, it was dealt with previous to me buying property and so insurers were very much aware of history of the house when I bought it, so I really don't understand why the premium has risen so much as it was really reasonable for a good few years, what's happened?
  13. Can anyone advise, I have a house which had previous subsidence/movement, work done by new method of stabalising 6 years ago, (as method used on C4 homes, all good), no problems since, but insurance company last year upped the price by double! Now this year have doubled that!!! so what started out as a £295pa policy, they are now asking for £1,200! I'm stumped because I can't seem to get another insurance company to take me on, what can I do? Anyone here got experience with this kind of problem?
  14. I mean't to ask, does anyone know how I can find the 'discrimination questionnaire' as the link doesn't take me there. Also, if this was a question that they were working inside the law by 'balancing diversity', should I not have been made aware of that at some point? At least it would not have made me feel like I was good enough to do the job, and then to pull the rug out from under me and then say I wasn't good enough to do the job:-(
  15. Hi Theghost, it's housing, so does that count as public sector? I just don't understand that if I have been doing the job, on three occassions, with no problems, how can it be fair to offer to somebody else simply because I was nervous, too keen, on the interview and I know I should 'tread carefully' but hey, I've been kicked in the backside, I can't just roll over and not protest can I?
  16. Well, to be honest I don't think I have nothing to lose. I would like to know why HR were there and how an obvious sloppy attitude to an interview, should have mentioned when asked if he had a problem finding the office he said no. But I do want to pursue this as I do feel truly upset and fed up with the situation
  17. Thanks Becky, I will take a look at that. I am not actually working there now, somebody else got the job, lol. But in all seriousness I do think I didn't stand a chance, HR were there for a reason.
  18. But would they tell me that was the reason. I feel silly about this because I know I did not give my best on the interview, although I was actually doing the job with no problems and the Manager was very happy with my work. How could HR just 'overlook' the disrespect of arriving 20 minutes late for an interview with absolutely no excuse or apology? Also, both these candidates were currently in work and I have been trying so hard to get a job for over a year! It doesn't seem fair at all with the current unemployment.
  19. If I'm really honest, I think because it was HR that interviewed for the first time alongside the Manager, it may have been something to do with making the office more diverse as only white people working there, does that happen?
  20. Hi, thank you for responding so quickly, and yes, race and age. They were both much younger and of a different race.
  21. Can anybody advise me please? I had an interview for a job I really, really, wanted. I didn't get the job, I was in the top 3 but they offered the job to another woman initially, she declined, then they offered it to the second person, a male and he accepted, started the job. This may sound really silly and I am hoping somebody, detached from it all, can give their true opinion. Problem I have is that I had been doing this job on a temporary basis for annual leave cover twice over the year, then recently again for the third time, whilst they advertised for the role on a permanent basis. I applied, got invited for an interview (I was working there at the time), and watched as all the candidates come to the office for their interview, I was the last one interviewed, only the 2 candidates, other than myself, were 'in the running', so to speak, so I was really excited as I had expressed how much I enjoyed working there and also how nervous I was because I really wanted the job. It was 'odd' that for the first time ever HR came to the office to interview alongside the Manager. Well it seems that HR thought I didn't answer the questions fully enough, I agree I didn't because I was so nervous on the interview, but I did tell HR I was nervous because I really wanted the job, but alas, I was unsuccessful. What's the problem, well I feel cheated and I'm not sure if I'm being PC or not, ut I'm a white 54 year old woman and feel that I was discriminated against as the first candidate they offered the job to wanted more money and the second candidate who did take the job, who arrived 20 minutes late for the interview and did not even apologise but HR said 'that's not a big problem, we can get past that'. I thought being late for an interview was a big problem. Am I being over sensitive? I don't feel fairly treated as I have never been late to work, and have been asked back there 3 times to work as a temp so they are obviously pleased with my work, I'm really confused on this.
  22. Can anybody advise please, after a year of searching for a job, finally landed a brilliant temp to perm job, fantastic! Initially worked with 2 seperate teams of lovely people then placed with team I would be working for,,,,,,oh my,,,,,absolutely gross,,,,,foul language, constantly talking graphic and pornagraphic sex talk, even beastiality,,,offensive and discriminative remarks about absolutely every minority group from people in social housing to immigrants,,,,,,unbelievable, so intolerable that I had to walk out of the job,,,,,,I am so upset,,,,,a brilliant job and now gone! Agency is fumbling and the company management met with me and made all the right noises, apologised, etc etc but I still have no job,,,,,,,its so unfair,,,,,,what rights do I have, I was only a temp so I'm not sure what I can do about this,,,,,I'm getting angrier by the hour,,,,can anyone advise please?
  23. Hi, thank you for responding,,,,well, I will pay the bill even though they are saying the account has not been run properly, but that is because they have been sending everything to the old address:???: but have no way of confirming if the new address is on their system, only if another bill goes to the old address as you can't seem to contact these people and get any sort of clarification,,phew:sad: and I don't know how to deal with that one! Any ideas:???:
  24. Well, got a response (surprisingly sent to new address for the first time ever!) from Barclaycard, basically it said they were concerned about and outstanding balance of £63.19 (which most is for annual card insurance which has been put on within the last month and sent to old address so obviously late), and could I bring the account up to date with a payment of £6.00 but they said more or less,,,,,,we're not going to issue me a new card until they could see the account running properly!!! I can't believe the cheek of it!! What shall I do? They absolutely frustrate the hell out of me!
  25. Thank you so much, I will post this off this morning and fingers crossed.
