i sent my first letter in late january requesting my statements for the past six years.recieved a response in march stating they would not charge me for the statements and they would arrive in the next few days.as of today i have not recieved them and have been told by my local branch that it would be a further four weeks as they had not been ordered yet.is this normal and should i write another letter asking why it is taking so long?

Under the terms of the Data Protection Act they have to provide this within 40 days, usually you would start this countdown from the day they cashed your cheque. Sounds like they're trying to mess you around at this stage already!

Funhat is right. The branch's incompetence is not your problem. Send them a Data Protection Act non-compliance letter http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/bank-templates-library/6986-data-protection-act-non.html

Send it to Customer Services in Borehamwood with a copy to te branch.

Steven
