Hi, I have a joint and severable liablity unsecured personal loan from Paragon Personal Finance, with an ex partner.

It was taken out in 1999 and ever since we got into arrears it had been appearing on Experian.

To my knowledge the debt is still outstanding

I have just checked Callcredit, Experian and Equifax and none of them have the debt showing, AT ALL. I am confused.

The last time I heard from Paragon was a letter dated 31.3.2015 which was an annual statement.

Any idea what's going on?

I have had nothing to say it has been paid or written off.

But even then it should be on my CR historically.

Why would they stop reporting it?

Stop sending annual statements or chasing for payment, without any notification to me?

Thanks in advance good people :-)

I would say that it has auto dropped off your CRF due to the age of it, ie. It was placed on your file more than 6 years ago.

Is anyone chasing you for these?

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

The last time I was contacted asking for a payment was 2014.

I was issued with a Termination Notice, terminating the credit agreement.

Strangely, they issued it incorrectly as 0

when I contacted them to query it, they re-issued with a £15k balance saying it had been an error..

It says they were referring it to a Debt Collection Agency if the balance wasn't paid in 5 days.

I didn't pay the balance and haven't had another annual statement.

Even if my ex paid it I should've gotten something in writing..

Hmm, just keep an eye on your CRF.

Do nothing further unless they rattle your cage, then come back here. :thumb:

Most likely long dead and buried now, no point in poking the hornets nest.

Do nothing unless you receive a claimform form the court.

if you were in arrears then that default has reached 6yrs or more and the whole account gets removed.

never to re appear.

and it looks like they sold it on

as long as they have your correct address

then just await a fleecing DCA to send a threat-o-gram.

then comeback here..

just remember that a DCA is

NOT A BAILIFF

and can be ignore

they have NO LEGAL POWERS

as BB says

until/unless you get a claimform do nothing.

how much is owing?

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Just over £15k.

They have already tried sending someone to the door and I told them no way.

Wanted to charge me £52 for a home visit.

Haven't heard from anyone since the Termination Notice.

Am waiting for the 6yr statute barred to arrive now..

I'm just mystified as to why they've stopped chasing!!

Thanks for the advice. I will certainly come back if I hear 'owt.

I am right in thinking that as it was an unsecured loan they can't take belongings etc.?

It was originally a consolidation loan so not for a particular object like a car or something anyway..

sorry you said £15k in the title.

taking stuff...NO WAY!!

that would be bailiffs

they can ONLY EVER GET INVOLVED

IF someone takes you to court

IF IF IF you lose and get a CCJ.

IF IF IF you then don't come to some arrangement

then COURT BAILIFFS could be involved

[nice guys don't do anything]

it could goto HCEO's if a fee was paid, but as this is covered by the CCA

that's a NO NO

and ANY bailiff on a civil debt

has NO RIGHTS OF ENTRY ANYWAY.

never gonna happen.
