hi to all the helpful forum people out there who give people like me some hope

that all is not completly lost by being in debt,

what i would like to know is how i should go about this query i have,

i have a dmp with payplan

which i have been in for around 3 years,

i was recently going through my credit file on noddle

i found that a mbna debt which i had listed as a debt

when i started my dmp plan with payplan is not shown on my credit file report ,

or the owed amount of money under any other collectors name/number,

payplan still pay this mbna account every month on my behalf,

payplan say what i do about this query is up to me,

should i ask mbna to prove i owe this debt,

as it is not on my credit file,

or am i still liable for it as i have /am still making payments to this

now non existant account that is not shown up on my noddle credit file,

i have not checked with the other credit refrence agencies to see if it is shown on their records yet,

but will soon to make sure before taking any action you might suggest.

if it is not shown,

i would like some advice on how to approach this issue as it might save me a few £000 if wiped out,

and from past experience with mbna's collectors ,

who mbna passed my other mbna account over to,

mbna could not provide any copies of the original agreement when requested to ,

so will also probably struggle with this account if the same was requested,

as they were both opened many years ago .

thank for any help on this matter

I have some debts including a secured loan and my main mortgage which do not show on any of my credit files so don't get excited and believe that you may have no need to pay MBNA any more just because the debt doesn't show. Of course this is MBNA and you might want to ask for the original agreement just on the off-chance..... but don't stop paying them until you have more evidence than the credit file.

probably defaulted more than 6yrs ago

so hence has dropped off

doesn't mean its not live or not owed.

howev, the CCA might be a useful route

then p'haps drop them to £1PCM

thanks for the reply,

but the debt is only 3 years old as i mentioned,

also will the defaulted debt be removed from my credit record after 6 years from my first defaulted payment,

even though i still pay agreed dmp payments because if nothing changes,

i would not have cleared my debt in the next 3 years on my current payments,

or is it 6 years without paying anything from the start of default period.

you say above - i found that a mbna debt which i had listed as a debt when i started my dmp plan with payplan is not shown on my credit file report ,

so what is correct, whwn did you take the card out?

as for defaulted debts:

All references to a defaulted debt must be removed from your credit files after 6 years has passed from date of default,

whether paid off or not.

This is so that someone who continues paying something even after 6 years from default should not be at a disadvantage

to someone who pays nothing after default and ends up with a clean file after 6 years.

thanks dx100uk for your replies,

what i am trying to say is my mbna card was taken out in 2004 ,

i was up to date with it,

no default until 3 years ago when i defaulted with my repayments

i then entered into a dmp with payplan around 3 years ago

which i am still paying,

recently i found that the mbna debt is not shown on my credit file with noddle,

and i was asking the forum for advice in this strange situation.

  • 2 weeks later...

Regardless of paying MBNA or not

my understanding is that you will still have to give payplan the same amount of money every month .

Your payplan payments are worked out on what monies you have left after your living expences etc .

My Other half was with them and after paying for a few years we decided to CCA all the companies ,

3 of which couldnt come up with the relevant paperwork

we asked payplan to deduct the payments from these companies from her monthly installments

and were told what I have mentioned above.

All that will happen is that the payments to other companies will increase .
