Hi all,

I am going to send my preliminary request for repayment of charges to ARGOS.

I am tempted in my orginal request to include a charge of interest at their standard APR. I have used a spreadsheet that calculates the number of days since the charge and then applies interest at 25.9%APR.

Q.: Is it worth it in the prelim or should I include this interest only in subsequent claims?

Thanks for your help,

Chris

Well, I did calculate interest at their APR of 0.259 and added it in to my claim in the prelim. See what they have to say. If they do pay out at this rate of interest, I will have cleared the balance of my acount and then about £100 more on top to spend.

I'm thinking that at the pre-court stage, that they'll just offer enough to close my a/c. I'll probably settle for that.

you were right- you can only apply statutory interest at court stage (8%), if you are going for contractual interest, like me, then it can be applied from these first stages. keep up the good work and very good luck.

Thanks to Sarah for the good wishes.

No reply from Argos, so LBA will be sent off tomorrow. See if they reply to that.

They have replied now. They dispute the amount I am claiming but have offered an amount as the usual "good will gesture".

I'll reject, accepting the offer as part-settlement and offer them one more chance to settle before I claim in the courts. I know this delays things, but it worked nicely in my NATWEST claim.

Fingers continue to be crossed,

Mac.

Can anyone please offer the correct address to send SAR and letters to.

We sent it to

Data Protection Compliance Manager

Argos Limited

489-499 Avebury Boulevard

Central Milton Keynes

MK9 2NW

We got a letter saying that Argos do not operate credit accounts for customers and that they are unable to identify our account number?.

They did attach a DP2 form to fill in so they can investigate, and returned our cheque of 10.00. We are to return the form to:

M. H. A. Willis

Data protection Compliance Officer

Home Retail Group

489-499 Avebury Boulevard

Milton Keynes

Is it a stalling tactic, or do a different company operate the credit fascilities they provide to argos additions catalog?
