Hello. I recently checked my credit record on equifax and found a default from Virgin Mobile in 2010 for £54.00.

I did at one point have a 30 day £10 contract with them which I pulled out of due to the signal becoming unusable and thought that was the end of it. I moved house about 2 months after cancelling and did not receive any letters for demands/defaults

I have a few questions

If I pay this £54.00 now will it change the date of default to now thus making it take longer to vanish off my credit report?

If I offer to pay the whole amount + costs should I try and get it satisfied or settled(which is better and why?) if they refuse to remove the default?Thnaks Guys

The date of default cant change. What will happen is if you pay it off, they will mark the file as settled but it stays for 6 years from the date of the action that caused the default.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

Hi, You may have a chance to sort this out as it is such a small amount, and given the fact you did not receive the DN,

write to the Data Controller at Virginmobile along the following lines:

RefXXXX

Dear Sir or Madam,

I write in regard to the default entry Virginmobile has recorded on my credit

file held by Equifax (enclose a screen print of the entry), having moved house

around 2 months before this date I did no receive a default notice and was

unable to remedy the default.

I am willing to clear this small outstanding amount immediately and would ask

if in this case you will remove the default entry from ALL credit files where ever

held.

Send it recorded delivery.

Any Letters I Draft are N0T approved by CAG and no personal liability is accepted.
