I've been working for 12 years for this well known D.I.Y company as a customer advisor. I went on maternity leave last year & didn't agree with working on the dept thay wanted to put me on when I went back in Jan,so I sought out same job role, different dept in another store and transferred down there instead.

Basically according to other staff members,my manager has told them she's moving me onto another dept...without even bothering to inform me!! I was put on there for one evening temporarily ...or so I thought.

It involves some heavy lifting on this dept and I've already explained that I cannot lift because I have tendonitis in my shoulder which I've had cortisone injections in already so far.

The manager on this new dept totally blanks me and I feel incredibly uncomfortable in his presence. He's watched me on various occasions and reported me to my manager, who's then confronted me about different things...one occasion I was seen holding my baby son for 2 mins and he reported me for that..even though its not something I can be pulled up for! (other staff members pick their children up when they come in store...yet I was quetsioned about this?)

He seems to look for any excuse to shop me to my manager..(who we think is actually having some kind of relationship with anyway)

Even though my contract states I'm a customer advisor...it also states the dept I'm a customer advisor on at present. Can my manager make me change dept? I'm thinking of quitting as I don't want to work for this other manager.

your old contract stated your department, you moved in jan so unless you received an updated contract specifying the new dept was now "yours" that claim may have gone when you switched

This is more of a workplace relationship issue than a contractual one probably and not liking your boss is something many people have to live with, there is no valid complaint there unless their behaviour is clearly and evidentially unreasonable

In addition, i've learned not to do gossip, has the manager actually told you that they are moving you, this may be the case but hearsay many times is simply the devil of idle hands. (or workmates to be more precise), whether they are having a relationship is also irrelevant unless it is used to abuse their positions

The other manager sounds like the old classroom type tell-tale (we used to call them peter's as in peter lorre in his heyday as a sidekick to fiends and monsters) again, there are many of these type of managers.

Nobody here will tell you to throw in the towel, it's not in our nature but your choices are simple, ask the manager if they intend to move you, by all means challenge the contractual part if they say yes but you may get the response i listed above, state your medically unfit for this new post and be prepared to obtain medical evidence to support this, then make sure there is a alternative post you can be medically redeployed into if they can;t alter the new dept's work allocation so you avoid lifting

Most importantly, STOP listening to gossip!

my new contract started jan when I moved store. There's no way the other member would've have known about any move unless our manager told them! She likes to play 'I'm your manager & you're just a customer advisor' card.

both managers conspiring together is not acceptable...he watches me constantly & reports me to her over trivial things, which I feel is wrong...she's then straight on my case lecturing & evidently threatens disiplinary action...for nothing!! If you stand up to her with your opinion,as I often do...she threatens disiplinary for that!

Its ridiculous...she has pulled me up for saying 'hello' to another member of the team, declaring I was 'chatting'...then threatens action....but nothing is said to whoever I was talking to? I'm not exactly 'chatting' to myself am I?

Then you have two options, put up and shut up or lodge a grievance over their actions with a manager more senior in the company.

You will need to present as much evidence as possible in regard to their actions and comments towards you and show that they are either abusing their positions or competency to fulfil their roles.

If it's your word against theirs i'd expect very little to come of it to be honest

good luck

Expect both of them to paint you as an argumentative uncooperative employee once you do start this process
