Dear friends,

This is my first post to the forum, though been a keen follower for many months. 2 years ago, following a sudden change in circumstances, ( took leave from job to do my PhD) I ended up defaulting on my credit agreements and have ended with ccjs now. The creditors are all the usual - GE Money, EGG, MBNA , Marbles and HSBC. The total debt comes to 20,000.

CCJs were issued in default. Every month I get bailif warrants from court for £700, £195, £160 etc for unpaid CCJs. I can now afford to make these payments albeit with a little struggle and am doing so. A good percentage of these instalments go to the court and a small sum is taken off the amount I owe.

All these account had PPI and Marbles and MBNA had plenty of overlimit/late payment charges as well. I have now decided that this has to stop

After going through the forum posts, I am not sure where and how I should begin tackling these debts. I want to repay these debts in the next 4 or 5 years, but at the same time when I look at the statements I realize that a good percentage of these are made up of PPI and charges. The PPI was of no help when my circumstances changed, since I didnt lose my job, but had voluntarily taken leave.

Because the CCJs have been issued and its many months down the line, would it still be legal to raise a claim against the PPI and credit card charges. I am not looking to have the CCJ' set aside, since I am prepared to ride it out. But it would be a great help if I have to pay back only what I really owe.

I will start individual threads for each account and will update on the progress. I would be very grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction to begin.

Best wishes
