NWSM, I appreciate your input and apologize if I came across unneccessarily harsh ;)

Hadn't had my coffee when I wrote my last comment  ...

Unfortunately all details re. the old account have vanished from the online banking site so I can't re-check. I'll see what they called the 12.- charge when they send us the final statements for that account.

Went through some of the statements they sent and by the looks of it most of 2002 is missing. Luckily we have quite a few original statements from that year.

OK, I'm off to do some adding up now :D

Round about 1300,- is what we want back.

Took me 3 hours to add everything up, used the spreadsheet which is very good:

http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/bank-templates-library/182-interest-calculation-spreadsheets.html#post750

Next letter will be the prelim plus another one asking for the missing statements/charges and all the other Data Protection Act info we asked for.

BTW: We got our statements in nice white envelopes :D

'smee again :D

On Tuesday I want to send Mr. Cunnane

1. our prelim asking for £1229.- back

2. LBA re Data Protection Act

3. a new Data Protection Act for info on NatWest credit card

As NatWest haven't cashed the £10.- cheque I sent with the last DPA (they took £5.- out of the account instead!) I'll ask them to use it for the new one.

What do you guys out there think?

Any comments?

I got my "Stuart Higley" letter today! :-D

Listen to this bit:

"The bank is under no obligation to explain how its charges are calculated and we are not prepared to enter into any correspondence on this matter. The compilation is a confidential commercial matter."

Right, so I'll send my LBA ...

Also want to submit a complaint to the OFT. So far I have the Director of Enforcement and Credit Licensing,

Ray Hall's email address. He is the man for Consumer Credit Act 1974 issues. Has anyone out there dealt with him/done this before and can maybe point me in the right direction what to write/how to word it?

Thanks ;)

Hi Andrew :)

I'm sending the LBA to the following address:

National Westminster Bank Plc

135 Bishopsgate

London

EC2M 3UR

I am not addressing an individual, the letter just starts "Dear Sir/Madam".

Good luck with yours ;) and keep us updated!

Warms sorry for this minor hijack but need to respond to above. Andrew1-windchest asked the question, and I answered it. As to your question I will answer it in the manner many others have STANDARD LETTER.

Warms apologies again and Good Luck

Ouch !:o duly told off and apologies if I hijacked. Actually it was Warms who pointed out the sentence in the letter, Windchest only asked if Stuart Higley existed. I posted the same thing on my thread not knowing Warms had posted the same thing here and it appears that both of us found it shocking and neither of us got any response so I just wondered what you thought of it given all your valuable input into the forum. No hijack or offence meant in any way shape or form..

No worries, still think it is a standard response. I think I have read it a few times on the threads so all is back to usual. Sorry andrew1- I get a few ppl having a go from time to time so sorry if it sounded a bit off, apologies again.

Early days was hard, but ppl have had such hard times because of Banks that they are suspicious of anyone who works for the banks, also Bank Workers on this site have argued the bank views and made my job harder to begin with. I have added on my signature that if ppl do not want further advice from me then I will cease posting on that thread. None so far have taken up the offer, so far.

Warms only 14 days before MCOL Good luck

Hi!

Wow, what a load of ... replies!:D

No worries, andrew1, I don't mind people joining in, we all have the same questions.

Good luck to all of you, and vicki1977, you really need to start your own thread!

Windchest, I actually feel kind of "initiated" now that i have my own Stuart-Higley-bog-off-letter ;) Hm, we should consider printing t-shirts and selling them to raise funds for this site: "STUART HIGLEY TOLD ME TO BOG OFF" :D

NWSM: remember me saying they'd charged us £12.- for closing the old account?

We got the last statements and there it says:

"Charges (ac.no.)XXXXXXXX TO CLOSE 12.00

Charges (ac.no.)XXXXXXXXLAST PER'D 12.00"

What do you make of this?

Advantage Gold fee, final month charge. As I said NW do not charge for closing accounts

...but :D what's the other 12.- for?!

One is for the "last per'd", but the other? What do they mean by saying "to close" other than they are charging 12,- to close the account?

the charges for Advantage Gold Account go out one month behind so for example if it is closed at the end of August then £12 for July and £12 remains to go out for August(normally would go out at the end of September) so £12 to close is Augusts charge

Thanks for explaining it, NWSM.

It still feels wrong, though...

I know. I find it hard to explain to people that maybe £20 over their overdraft that to close their account there is an additional £56 (2 x Unarranged Borrowing Fees) still due to go out. In my honest opinion, a bank worker will soon take a knife for this and I just hope it isn't me. I also hope I am wrong as well
