I'm with sky too. we've All had the same letter with the same date for the same 'Client'.

 

Has anyone actually got the track in question and any other information regarding the track or is it a complete stab in the dark??

I completely re-wrote it so it was virtualy unrecognisable as a template, and they still disregarded it!

It states that the statement report is supplied by their forensic "IT experts" but does not say who they are as far as I can see.

Seems that no matter how you word the LOD or how professional it may look they disregard it no matter what, then send a second letter doubling the amount to be paid within 7 days......then a third or even forth letter....what a load of bull**** from what i have read, which has been a days reading, so much information to take in!

Anyone who gets this letter shouldnt worry. I received one of these in 2007. Just use the template as mentioned in the above posts and dont forget to send it signed delivery so they cant say they have not received it.

 

My 83 year old grandad got one of these letters thismorning. They accused him of downloading Evacuate the dancefloor. The template letter will be sent first thing monday morning when i get to work and i dont expect to hear from them again. If I do the so what. Its up to them to prove that you are guilty and they cant do that with just an ip address.

 

Dont ignore the letters as as far as I can see the only time they have "won" in court is when people didnt show up, so the judge had no choice other than to make judgement in their favour. Although some sites say there is no evidence even for thses 'victories'.

 

Dont worry about going to court though. Its very rare if ever. They send out tens of thousands of letters to people every year and even Bill Gates doesnt have the kind of money it would take to take everyone to court.

 

Just remember - if you pay you are admitting that you are guilty so they may come after you again.

workin on me denial letter but have no clue how to word, i've never shared any kind of stuff on the net apart from sending photo's to my family, take it acs:law will send me letter for that as well, this is rediculous and not fair,

I've been reading these forums for a few months now, having received one of these letters myself a while back.

 

To all the latest people who've got letters, I'd just like to firstly say calm down...

 

Make yourself as familiar as possible with the info contained in this forum thread, it takes time to read but is well worth it. I too have been stressed beyond belief at times during this process but arming yourself with information makes you feel a whole lot better. There is also an excellent forum thread about ACS on Slyck.com - have a look for it.

 

Another brilliant source for info is Beingthreatened.com, which contains a guide on how to write letters of denial. Whether ACS rejects your letter or not (because it's based on a template) is not important - what is important is that you do send a first letter of denial.

 

Google The Speculative Invoicing Handbook - this pdf guide made me feel a hell of a lot better after reading it! Pretty sure there's a link to this on Beingthreatened.com

 

Above all, remember guys that to date nobody has been taken to court by ACS! - just make sure you get that first LOD sent and best of luck
