  1. Thanks Cillitbanger wasn't sure about that particular charge that's why I put "my opinion". My reasoning behind that thought was the basis on which this site works up i.e. disproportionate charges! Why should NT(hel)L charge £2.00 every bill (monthly) for something they've NOT done, not even sent a letter. I have set up a DD with NTL three times this year. 1. They went into my account twice in the one month and took the same amount twice! - cancelled 2. Set it up again thinking they're not going to make the same mistake! I was right but they made another instead. Did not take DD as they'd told me my bank had cancelled the DD before it had been set up!!!! (spoke with my bank who asked why would they do this?) 3. Set it up again last month - did not take it, had no record of it, then started bombarding me with phone calls about unpaid bill etc.... They are such a nightmare to deal with. I had a bill last month for £95.00!!!!!!!!! I never use the phone, yet I have £43 worth of calls to an 0901 number on the one night I was home alone and it was after 1.00 in the morning!! I have spoken with them and they've told me they've checked the line - no fault and they've sent out an engineer still no fault! Therefore I have to pay the bill, surely this can't be right?
  2. Worth a try, why should they charge for something that they're not even doing i.e. - not collecting a DD? My feelings anyway?
  3. No, but I'm going to... Non direct debit handling charge Late payment charge Service disconnection (not had one but I know they charge £20 for flicking a switch etc.... Let us know if you do!
  4. Just a quickie, why do the mods ask for this? Only wondering, as anyone of us could be a bank employee and because of the anonymity side of things the site and it's users wouldn't know would they? Just being nosey really! I'm not by the way!!!!!!!!

I was so shocked to get the call and on my mobile. I was in the middle of a meeting, said I was waiting for a business call, I didn't recognise the number anyway, took the call and nearlly collapsed. Tried not to smile all the way through the meeting but couldn't wait to speak with my son who has thought I've lost my mind for the last couple of months - show me the money!! Seems a bit surreal at the monent and won't be quite sure it's happened until the money is in my account!! Persevere Maria it's so worth it, chasing up the others now!! Boo
  7. Move it!!! They can't help you they don't deserve you hun. Boo
  8. You have as much right as anyone else to claim your charges back but you must be prepared to work for them!! You must read all the FAQ's FAQs :::::::::::::::::::::::::- PLEASE READ THESE FIRST!!! -::::::::::::::::: Frequently Asked Questions. Case guidance etc. Instructions on how you can Reclaim the Right and get your bank charges refunded.------::::::----------- and as many threads as you can. Then all the templates you need to construct your letters etc will be found Consumer Action Group > Libraries - bank charges materials and other issues Bank Templates Library Good luck - do you also bank with your employer?
  9. I don't understand why it's gone up when the rate is lower? Did you not have buildings insurance and Mortgage sure previously? I would make an appointment to speak with someone in the bank rather than letters flying back and forth - she said, you said, we said etc.. Discuss quite calmly the situation, but before you go contact other mortgage companies/banks and get some quotes etc... so that when you go in you are armed with all of this information + a lot of them now do free transfers etc... which you also show your bank. You know the thing I can transfer to them at a lower rate and they won't charge me, I've had my mortgage with you for blah blah and not only do you up my repayments when I'm paying at a lower interest rate but you charge me for the privilage also!!! That's what i'd do anyway. Good luck Boo

HSBC phoned today offered the whole amount of the claim - I'm so thrilled!!! Thanks everyone, thought nothing was going to happen as only one letter ages ago and nothing since - donation will be made. I love everyone on this site - and if you're not married I'm free!!! (I am a little older than my picture mind!!) Boo
  11. Good luck to you and I really hope things work out you seem like a decent person... But I must say that I do actually resent the implication that people are not being honest. I think that most of the posters on this thread have been honest, perhaps a little to honest in that they've divulged information that you would not normally divulge, purely in an effort I think, to alert people to the scams and underhand dealings they have had to contend with!! There are a lot of people using this site who have had money problems of all sorts and sizes and not always through their own inability to manage their finances. It's sometimes a case of any port in a storm, you see a lifeline and take it, sometimes paying a heavy penalty for a short term fix. I am sure there must be be a little of this in your particular situation why else would you consider this particular company with their extortionate rates of interest?

hi honey Don't be downhearted and despondent just think a couple of months ago you would never have thought of being ina position to get all this wasted money back? TBH I think more people get an offer after they done the MCOL/ court claim than before so don't let that get you down!! Keep going and we can spur each other on - okay? Now shape up and ship the depression out Boo x
  13. Same here regarding Capital One - never use this card but they always manage to put some charges on it every month!!!!!
  14. No it's not just you, so don't let them make you feel paranoid it happens to me as well!! Not sure about the gallery thing...from the anonymity perspective. Anyway what makes you think we're not using our actual photos?
  15. Wrong site to be asking for a bank account - LOL!! TBH although I'm fighting the HSBC they were very good to me initially when I had similar problems, had a cheque book and debit card with them - LLoyds closed all of my accounts when it happened. I'd banked with them for years had two current accounts, 2 deposit accounts and kids had accounts there also. They said it was head office policy!! Good luck
  16. Standard blah, blah letter!! The choice is yours : 1. you can ignore the letter and when the 14 days are up from LBA then continue with the MCOL or 2. Accept this as a partial settlement - using the following letter Consumer Action Group > Libraries - bank charges materials and other issues > Bank Templates Library Rejection of settlement offer and then follow up with MCOL (after the 14 days from LBA). Hope this helps! Boo
  17. Not complicated at all provided you read, read and re-read the FAQ's and other people's threads. There are loads and loads of people on here that will give you loads and loads of advice but you have to do the donkey work so to speak. You need to go here!! Consumer Action Group > Libraries - bank charges materials and other issues > FAQs :::::::::::::::::::::::::- PLEASE READ THESE FIRST!!! -::::::::::::::::: Step-By-Step Instructions How did you get to this stage with your claim, not on this site?

Next time it's an MCOL for me. The only thing that bothered me though was the fact that you would have to send your schedule of charges seperately!! Seems a lot quicker though than actually doing it at the court and you've had an acknowledgement. I've just been told to assume service was on the 28th (today) so although I submitted 3 days before you I am actually now 1 to 2 days behind you!! Electra have you submitted your claim yet? Boo

Hi Maria100 Just out of curiosity, when you submitted your MCOL how long did it take for it to be served and acknowledged? When I did mine through the Courts on 18th of September (in person) it took them 8 days to send the document by post - 26th and another two days the 28th to consider it served (peeved with that expecially as it costs £120!!). Thanks Boo
  20. Oh Nellie I am so sorry I know the plate meant more to you than the car, carry on with the transfer and see what happens as you have all the paperwork?? Boo

Hi hun I found it easier to complete an N1 form and took it to the court personally as it is very difficult to get all the information you need to on the MCOL as you are restricted with the number of characters. Failing that you can use Particulars of claim - N1 - hard copy version (Bankfodder) which you'll find in the bank templates library. Hope this helps and good luck! Boo x
  22. You're very welcome and I agree with you 100% about the talking with strangers bit. Good luck Boo
