  1. Thanks guys. I am defo keeping out of it. The sad thing is I actually do like both my neighbours I did feel sorry for number 2 when number 1 drew the lines outside because I really think they think it has devalued their property. Now I feel even sorrier for neighbour number 1 because they have lived in their house for over 40 years and now they have had these fliers put through everyones door about them.
  2. Yes it is private land. Neighbour number 2 kept blocking neighbour number 1s parking space. This is why neighbour number 1 painted the lines. Now neighbour number 2 thinks that the value of his house has dropped by 50k. I rent and dont drive thankfully!!
  3. Hello, I have looked through the form lists but I cant find any other forums for this post. two of my neighbours are at war. Small disagreements have been blown out of proportion, particularly over parking. One of my neighbours had yellow lines painted around the no parking area, the other neighbour is not at all happy. Today neighbour number 2 put flyers through all the doors in our area naming and shaming neighbour number 1. Im keeping my blinds shut and hiding inside, theres no way im getting involved. However, does anyone know if its even legal to put flyers like this out? http://www.4freeimagehost.com/show.php?i=PUSHc584ad3b0b0e.jpg
  4. I might tell all the companies that I owe money to that I paid it to this debt collection company!
  5. Also, how much does your nan have left on her original provident loan? Could she not find a way to pay the loan back outright so that she can tell the man to never visit again?
  6. I have had this happen to me. I dont have any accounts with provident but the other day a man knocked our door saying he was from provident and then explained to my husband that I owed money to another company and that provident has paid the other company the money in a form of a loan to me from provident. Therefore he would like to set up a regular payment to him for the money I owe him. This must have been a major breach of the data protection act! My husband said he would contact the police if the man came back asking for money as he does not donate to people who beg. We have not heard from them since.
  7. Do you have more than one boss? Could you speak to the nicest one there?
  8. Hi Dx, I applied for the account by buying something from their catalogue. I think I did it on an order form in a magazine. I did not see your post until after I had replied to Pinks post but I gave two reasons, 1. that I was not always in work and never worked more than 16 hours and 2. I was never asked if I actually wanted PPI. Thx
  9. Hi Pink, I explained my reasons as 1. I dont think I was ever asked if I wanted it, it was just added to my statements, so I stupidly thought it was a charge that I had to pay. 2. I was in and out of work due to having a baby etc and I never worked more than 16 hours a week the whole time I had PPI. It seems so wrong that you hear about everyone reclaiming their PPI and adverts saying mis-sold PPI must be repaid, but then you get a response from Freemans that basically says go away your getting nothing! I am sure I never had terms through the post as if I had realised it was optional I would have cancelled it straight away.
  10. Hi, I have been trying to reclaim the PPI that I was paying to Freemans. I was honestly never asked if I wanted it and up until recently I thought it was standard and had to be on my account. After writing several letters and then several more to chase any form of reply I have received the letter which I shall type below. Does anyone have any advice as after hearing about other peoples PPI claims I feel disappointed now. Thanks Dear X I am in receipt of your letter dated 29 September 2012 regarding Payment Protection Insurance. I can confirm that my investigations are now complete and I would like to make the following observations. Our sales processes have always had regard to the legal requirements in force at the time. As the policy was applied to your account on 16/05/00, you will be aware the detailed rules currently enforced by the Financial Services Authority were not applicable at this time. I can also confirm that cost to the customer was always part of the sales process and that full consent was always actively sought. This was only obtained when the customer confirmed eligibility and suitability. The polices we have previously sold have changed over time. However, those which carried benefits associated with unemployment were equally valid for the self employed providing you worked 16 hours a week or more and paid the correct National Insurance contributions. Furthermore, every monthly statement you have received, where applicable, always referred to the policy giving transparency of all transactions taking place on the account, giving you the opportunity to review your account on a regular monthly basis and raise any matters you may wish to. It has always been possible to cancel at any time, by whatever means, and without penalty. Having considered all the matters raised, I regret to inform you that I am unable to uphold your complaint. The issues you raise appear to fall outside the jurisdiction of the Financial Ombudsman Service owing to the length of time your policy has been in force. You are, of course, at liberty to contact them and they may, in exceptional circumstances, waive the prescribed time limits. In accordance with the legal requirements as they apply to the investigation of complaints, I must inform you this is my final response regarding this matter. I understand this is not the outcome you have been looking for, but I hope that you understand the reasons for it. Yours sincerely XXXXXX
  11. Thank you for your advice. I got a credit report (at my address) about six months ago and there was no mention of Lowell or Shop Direct. I was worried that if I acknowledge that they have written to my parents house they might keep doing it until I pay them because they will know that they are upsetting me by doing so. My mum is worried that debt collectors may call at her house. She is not at all like me and has always kept her finances in order. The thought of this has stressed her a lot. I will send them the letter that you have suggested. Thank you.
  12. Hi, Im new to this but I would like some advice. I received about 6 letters today from a company called Lowell for a debt that is apparently from 'shop direct'. The problem is Lowell sent these letters to my parents house. I have not lived there for over 12 years. The letters were also in my maiden name which I changed when I married nearly 9 years ago. I long time ago I did get into debt with a few companies but as far as I am honestly aware, I cleared all of my debt. I have never heard of shop direct or Lowell. My problem is my mum is understandably quite upset about this and has concerns about debt being registered at her house. Im not sure how to handle it. If I call or write to Lowell they are then going to assume that they can keep contacting me there and I dont want to upset my mother further. If I try and get a credit report for my name at my parents house will this be any kind of fraud because I dont live there?
