  1. Have decided to ignore as per the advice. Thanks
  2. I today received a letter from Resolvecall on behalf of Arrow Global. They head it Arrow Global Reconection. It says I owe a large sum to Lloyds Tsb and they want me to contact them. However none of the references numbers are ones I recognise and the amount doesnt equate to anything I owe. I did have a small loan that I owed Lloyds but though this was paid and a more than ten year old credit card debt that is Statute Barred. How do I respond?
  3. Yes good idea ill contact the contractors when I know who they are. Will call the drying company who are arranging it tommorow. If they are not going to replace the floor in the kitchen I might ask how much they will charge to take it up and seal the whole floor. Then I can have a whole new floor whoever pays.
  4. The situation I believe although they are going to seal the exposed parts of the kitchen they seem to not want to test it even though it looks exactly the same as the other 2 floors. As I recall all the floors downstairs in our house had the marley tiles on the floor when we moved in 35 years ago and it therefore seems likely all the floors have an asbestos content and as we are having a new kitchen it may not cover the floor exactly the same as the existing kitchen did. They are replacing the carpets in all the upstairs bedrooms even though only edges of some carpets were damaged. So my point is they will replace the whole of the kitchen and all the other floors the kitchen is not being regarded in the same way. The kitchen was removed in order to dry the wall behind it. Is that spacing better
  5. 4 weeks ago I had a escape of water from a tank in my loft. I have water damage to every room which will entail complete redecoration, new carpets, new electrics and a new kitchen. I live in an old council house and they tested the lounge and hall floors for asbestos in the bitumen that covers those floors ( under the carpets) but up to the edge of the kitchen units there was a tiled floor ( that we installed some years ago ). They did not test this but once the kitchen units were removed it exposed more of the bare bitumen floor. I asked for it to be tested but it was not deemed necessary. Now they intend to seal the lounge and hall floors and seal the exposed parts of the kitchen floor. Do you think it is unreasonable of me to expect the whole kitchen floor to be replaced? Bearing in mind they are taking up the old marley tiles from under the carpets in the lounge.
  6. Just had an email from the loss adjuster detailing their plan of action with the work etc so that sounds ok I think I was worried for nothing. All going ahead with insurers. Thanks
  7. My house was flooded last week as the ball cock broke off in the tank in the loft. Loss adjustors have been appointed and drying company and electricians have been out and set up a separate power supply to start the drying process. I am in a hotel staying that the insurers have arranged. Loss adjustor came on friday and had a good look around took photos and asked me some questions. One of the questions was did I have any criminal convictions or CCJ'S. I said not to convictions and that I had a CCJ about 9 years. I think it was paid but really cant remember as I was in a very bad period in my life at that point. A lot of my paperwork from then has been thrown away ( in error ). I believe that CCJ information disappears after 6 years so I dont think I can check. I have looked through my paperwork for the insurance policy that covers the damage and the question about CCJ'S does not appear only questions about convictions and being bankrupt. Both of these I answered no to as that was the case. I just wondered why the loss adjustor asked and would he be referring to CCJ's from the last 6 years ( of which I have none ). I looked at my sisters insurance papers at hers today and her insurers NFU ask about CCJ'S aswell as IVA's and Bankruptcy. But they then say they are only interested in CCJ' whether unsatisfied or satisfied from the last 5 years. I dont want this to be a reason why they dont pay out and I did correctly answer the questions when I took out the insurance. Am I worrying for nothing?
  8. Thanks for that. I will just file the letters away and wait for the 24.5.16 to come.
  9. After some years I had a letter from DLC concerning the above account. They keep writing and in August last year and i responded to say it is statute barred. They wrote back to say that was wrong as i had paid a payment to them on 24.5.2010. They have been writing every month since offering various discounts I recieved a letter yesterday offering 75% discount and that my account would show as partially satisfied. Firstly it does not show on my credit file anyway, secondly why only partially satisfied surely full and final settlement means they write the rest off and lastly they never sent a proper agreement when asked. How do I proceed.

  11. I acknowledged the claim within 14 days ( but it was over Xmas) and defence deadline is another 2 weeks away. When I asked them they said they had not been informed by court yet
  12. I took a loan with Lloyds some years ago and the debt was passed to Lowell last year or so. They have been sending me letters I received court papers early December. I acknowledged them and spoke to them a couple of days ago as over Xmas I received a letter saying they would go for judgement if I didnt respond or pay by 6.1.16. I managed to get through to them yesterday after trying since Saturday. I was inclined to pay all the money ( with a loan from family ) as I have managed to clean up my credit file last couple years and dont want a CCJ. They said I could make an arragement to pay monthly and they would not get judgement. Is this true?
  13. I just had a text from my brother to say he doesnt need me to pop over as he has spoken to a solicitor who is going to sort it. the court date is today as brother has asked for a set aside and they said no and want to go for a charging order. Many thanks all must start to deal with my own problems and let others deal with theirs!!
  14. He is going to deal with it but needs to be faxed the scanned paperwork in the morning and my brother is away working at present.
  15. I am going to his house tommorow morning to speak to his solicitor and send him the documents. once i have seen them i will post copies on here
  16. My brother just called me with a problem. He has had a lot of outstanding cc debt that I thought he was dealing with albeit slowly. However Arrow apparently have a CCJ for his MBNA CC debt and he wants to get it set aside. They said they are going to contest it and go for a charging order. He wants to know how he can contest this. He thinks he has been paying them a little each month but I know his debts are big and there are quite a few other credit cards chasing him. One other has got a CCJ and he is paying £100.00 a month. I told him to try to get a solicitor or a postponment to give him time to mount a defence. I dont think he doesnt want to pay just doesnt have £18000.00 and does not want a charging order ( or is it a restriction!!). Can anyone help? The court date is tomorrow
  17. I got advise from the CAB who said I needed to flag it up to them. Last week I did a credit search for myself and it said I was in arrears with the mortgage since 2013. That was when they messed up when they incorporated some arrears into my monthly payment to get it straight. I was on a limited income and they said my payment would go down by £200 per month when in fact it went up by £200.00. I had agreed to the rejigging of the payments over the phone ( at their insistence ) when the papers came through they had made a huge mistake. I told them I could only afford X amount and that is all I could pay. its kind of my fault. Now I am working and nearing retirement I want to sort out the arrears before I retire in 4.5 years. I phoned last week and spoke about it and also told the 2 advisors about the write off letters and they were astounded. I was on the phone for over 90 minutes but to be fair when I mentioned this to the girl she gave me a £25.00 payment into my bank account. They said someone would call me yesterday to sort it and I then spent another hour on the phone. In the end I said I wanted to go into the local branch and discuss it to make an arrangement but was told I need to speak to Bangalore in India because thats where the team who do these arrangements are. I have spoken to Philippines and India in the last week whilst trying to get through to someone who could help and they did not have a clue. Where do I go from here?
  18. Thanks I wondered of DWP would write to them. He is going to get the ball rolling with the carers allowance today so it drops in after ESA finishes. We will see what happens. Dropped basic letter into council access point on Tuesday and have a receipt.
  19. do you think i should tell them the financially helping bit?
  20. Does this letter sound right. "I am writing to inform you that I would like my claim for Housing Benefit to be terminated with effect from 20.3.15. My claim for Employment and Support Allowance ceases on that day and I am going to be caring for my elderly parents from then on and they will be helping me financially" I would be grateful if you could supply me with an account number so I may continue with the repayments of £10.89 per week in regard to the overpayment of my Housing Benefit."
  21. Yes he realises that it will not stop the investigation. So they will accept a letter that says he wants it to be terminated with effect from end of ESA without his having to go into what his income will be. And in answer to citizenB his parents are going to help repay the money.
  22. My friend is on Housing Benefit and ESA ( CONTRIBUTION BASED). He gets a small amount of Housing Benefit and is at present paying off a large overpayment at £10.89 a week from his HB. His ESA finishes in 2 weeks and he is probably going to claim carer's allowance ( cause he is going to look after his parents) and take a small job he's been offered. Now he wants to come off HB but is wondering how he does it. He only gets £15.00 per week after the overpayment is taken out and would rather stand on his own now. Trouble is he is at present being investigated because of the overpayment ( which was large) and made be prosecuted. Also he gets a occupational pension and once his ESA finishes he will pay no tax on that so his income will rise. So should he say his income will rise because of the tax, he is going to claim carers allowance and will possibly get a small job as well. Would he need to provide evidence of all this ? All he has at the moment is the letter saying the ESA is finishing. He suffers with his nerves and the investigation etc is wearing him down and he has realised that he can manage without the HB ( even if he's entitled) and would rather walk away. Can anyone help?
