Hi All, sorry to bother you, but i am having some difficulties re-claiming my bank charges, i have read the frequently asked questions and sent my first letter asking for the list of bank charges and i have also sent a second letter with accompanying schedule of charges asking to reclaim the money back, 4 days after the 14 day deadline, i have recieved a letter from Lloyds TSB saying they are "sorry i am unhappy about my bank charges" and about them being a business that has to charge for some of their extra services... they also go on to quote the Office of Fair Trading and their published guidelines on credit card default charges. I have attempted to reclaim overdraft excess fee's which come to the total over the years at £1,003. I am a little bit stunned by this letter and feel dead in my tracks to try and redeem this funds, any help in how to continue in this matter would be much appreciated, i don't know if i should just send the third letter or if there is something else that i need to do... or if indeed they are correct and i can't have this money back? Ahh im all confused.

Looking Forward To A Reply

Fear not - you're just at the beginning of the game.

LTSB's response is their standard one, designed to put off people who don't know better. You're best bet now is to send an immediate reply back along the lines that their response is not acceptable (see moneysavingexprt.com for precise wording) and that if they don;t repay your charges within 14 days you'll take them to court.

When they don't (and they won't yet) then look at the above site and other postings on this site for the next steps to take.

While it ill take a while, there's loads of good help and 'best practice' on this site, but you do need to take some time out to read it all in order to make the rest of the process easier.

Hi

You don't need to go to Money Saving Expert for your next step as there is a perfectly good template letter on this site:D

You now need to send a Letter Before Action

http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/bank-templates-library/92-3-letter-before-action.html

I also find this step-by-step guide useful

http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/faqs-please-read-these/25457-guide-reclaiming-bank-charges.html

Good luck:)
