Barclays account closures?

Hi guys,

 

My fiance is wanting to claim back her bank charges from her Barclays account but is afraid that they will close her account and demand that she pays back her overdraft which is currently £3300. She is within her agreed limit at the moment but there is no way she could afford to pay back even £100 let alone over £3000.

 

Do you guys have any advice on what she should do?

have a read of my thread, I have an overdraft which is still in use, I have claimed and recovered ALL of my charges with very little trouble.

 

Barclays [and other banks] DO close accounts but only in cases of poor management, if you are handling your finances adequately there is no reason for them to act maliciously [hope spelling is right].

 

They can be reported for closing accounts as an act of retaliation.

When you say poor management does that include going over your overdraft limit on a regular basis?

well i was always over my limit LOL, made no difference to my claim, as long as youre not talking £100's over regularly you should be ok on that

They wouldn't want to lose out on all that luvverly interest you're paying, would they?

 

Very rarely is an account closed. I have two, both up to their od limit regularly, and both functioning normally.

Thanks for the replies guys, it's still going to take a bit to persuade her to do this as she's the cautious type but i'll get there in the end

My missus was the same, she thought the sky would fall in if we ever dared to question the almighty Barclays.

 

But when she saw the bank balnce shoot up she cant stop telling everyone to do it.

 

if your missus has got any doubt I can pass my other alfs email/hotmail to you so they can chat about it
