I am trying to start claiming from MBNA. Our credit limit has been reached and we have numerous late payment charges over the last 6 months. What do I claim for - just the late payment charges themselves or any interest I occured (it seems I am being charged at least £30 a month but this must be on my actual balance of which is my own debt ). If I do claim for any interest how do I work it out

Sorry I am really confussed!

Help Appreciated

Just take some time out now to read carefully through the FAQ section. It really does tell you pretty much everything you need to know - read the step by step thingy as that will give you an overall picture....:)

You can only add interest at county court claim stage, and it's 8% - if that's what you're referring to....

If you got charged interest directly due to them levying charges then ask for that back now...(that's different interest from the 8%)

i would charge them 16% per charge per month and keep on going and tell them that it is always increasing. Good thought that, I may well start adding that onto my claim.

So if i am right, say a £20 charge from say 4 months ago would look like this:

£20 + 16% (month 1) + 16% (month 2) + 16% (month 3) + 16% (month 4) = £36.21. Good god, that is loads of interest just on the charges alone !
