Hi, I wonder if someone can explain this to me, i sent an S.A.R to barclays for my partner using the template on this site and the response he received was that they are not obliged to present any information according to any particular format, therefore the request to assemble a schedule of charges has been turned aside. And as for the manual intervention the data protection act does not oblige the bank to comment about internal policies and procedures. ???????

hi raverbaby1,

pretty standard letter from Barclays,in fact i had the same reply last week . i assume that it was signed on behalf of peter townsend as well.

dont worry too much about it they are just being awkward regarding their interpretation of the data protection act which they are quite right in saying does not require them to supply the information in a set format IE they dont have to send copies of your bank statements ,the info of the charges printed on plain paper would be perfectly compliant with the data protection act and suffice for what you want .all they are saying is they are gonna supply you the info you requested but it may be just all the charges you have incurred on plain paper or full on copies of your statements. it is also normal for the banks to say that they wont confirm if there was any manual intervention or not as if they say there was none it just makes your case stronger, again pretty standard.

just carry on and follow the FAQs on here and you will be fine.

i hope this makes sense

regards

paul
