Hi all,

I received an email this morning stating I'd watched BBC iplayer and I now need a licence. I have not, through personal opinions I wouldn't even consider it. I watch netflix, prime and disney+ only at my house.

I considered ringing them and giving them a piece of my mind and then realised my mother at her own address is signed into my account. My mothers address has a full TV licence but she is not tech savvy apart from me teaching her how to use a firestick hence why she has my accounts on hers.

Do I contact them and explain this or do I just ignore because if they turned up at mine they can clearly see we don't.

Thanks

And just to check – does it have a link in the email? And if you hover over the link, what address pops up

fake 1000%

never ever rely or reply to any email/txt/msg looked at on a phone as being legit.

its not from any  @bbc.co.uk email address ...just like all the hmrc tax owed email scams

It's seems to be from the genuine TV licence. https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/cs/pay-for-your-tv-licence/index.app?

If I type that in separate it takes me to my account which I'm already logged in with so I don't need to sign in to it

just tracking you to poss iplayer use then , not live tv.

TBH i use iplayer all the time and to a property that had a licence for more years that i care to remember paying until something like 2020.

have had 100+ various letters about use/visit/scheduled visit/def visit...etc etc that circle around.

they have zero legal powers just like a dca ....safe to ignore.
