I was caught for shoplifting in Dec 2014 and now need to apply for a resident card.

No police were called and I

did not sign anything but

my picture was taken on the high street camera just outside the store.

I was told I would received a RPL

wihich I did and paid this as well.

I want to know:

Why was this picture taken and what is it used for?

Where does it get recorded?

Does it get recorded under DPA as the RPL letter states that this will be recorded for 6 years

Will this come under civil penalty or civil judgement as the form has this questions if you have any civil penalty or civil judgement

Will this affect my application to get a resident card and future application for British citizenship and do I need to declare it

If I apply for jobs where a CRB is required, would this show up on it

Please please respond as I am very worried

Hi and welcome to CAG

As there was no criminal action taken against you, this should not show on any check made. This is a civil matter and the police did not get involved. You made the mistake of paying up when you didn't need to which is why we are here.

As for the high street camera taking your picture. I am assuming it is one of those that sit atop a pole quite high up. IF that is the case, the staff were worrying you with bovine excrement as they have no control over cameras in the streets.

It shows absolutely nowhere

shame you paid RLP

you might as well have burned the money.

they have no legal powers whatsoever

and that money simply went to fund their fleecing operation on other unwary victims

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Yes, it s one of those high street cameras on a pole... But the security guard called someone and the camera turned towards the store and focused on me. The security guard confirmed with the person and the other end if my picture was taken and then told me i could go.. Y was this done in that case if not recorded anywhere...

Also the RPL states that the details the store took from me i.e. a photo id and my details such as dob and address would be saved with them for 6 years and shared only with relevant authorities due to data protection... are these relevant authorities like home office, ukba, employment, etc.???

Please advice

read it carefully.

they can retain the data for 6yrs.

they cannot share it with anyone

stop getting taken in by clever wording that implies things

but IN ALL actuality mean nothing

you are being HAD do not pay them.

they have NO LINKS OR CONTACT WHATSOEVER

with any gov't offices etc etc

how? they've no legal remit to be allowed to release it to anyone.

data protection act as they state.

you signed nothing giving them perm to do anything with it.

IMHO, it was a scare tactic

and

having been involved in such things for over 15yrs until recently

a usual trick they perform.

you are being had and are not reading the letters that Jackie is sending properly.

ignore it

go live your life

The only way your details would appear on any CRB check (normal OR enhanced) is if the police were called. they were not so there will be nothing.

It may be that the security guard had a friend in the CCTV centre and asked hime to angle the camera in your direction. This means nothing. You are just a face on camera. they can do nothing with it as you had no involvement with the police.

Please stop stressing.
