Hello all,

I have been attempting paying down a credit card I have had for years and not managed to pay down.

I have started to pay much more than the minimum payment in an attempt to get rid of it.

I have been paying the monthly bill via electronic bank payment each month.

Bank of ireland have recently issued me with a default for late payments.

I have a lot of defaults from 2009 , having hid from debts, but none since then.

I am also annoyed as i have been paying this more than min payment every month.

If my payments were late, there is no evidence of this.

If they were late it could not have been by much. I think it must have been a processing delay.

I feel they have penalised me harshly. I have written to them to ask them to remove it without success.

Can I get a default for this? anyideas to get it removed?

thanks.

The default will have been placed because of the volume of late payments

not specifically because of how late they were made.

there was no situation to remedy.

I pay my credit card each month by electronic payment each month.

the payments must have been marginally late, or took too long to process.

Then one day I recieve a default.

Its not as if i stoipped paying it altogether.

The credit card is years old from when i could actually get credit.

I try my best to keep it as it is the only way to repair my credit record.

The creditor may consider that continual /frequent late payments are a break down in the agreement to pay the required amount by the specified date, sorry to say marginally late in this scenario is as bad a week+ late.

Yeah I hear you Brig. It wont achieve anything for them though. While i have a default for 6 years. The only way to win is not to play at all.

That is most certainly true, not properly controlled, gives all the control to the providers sad but true.

if the debt was already defaulted [not just had markers like late etc]

then it wont matter what they put

a debt will vanish on the defaults 6th birthday paid or not.

question here being

if you don't have a copy of your cra file

you don't actually know if anyone actually IS defaulting you.

a default notice, is nothing to do with a 'default' on your cra file

in the strictest sense
