Just been having a dig through some old papers and stumbled on a LLoyds TSB cca.

Now this is not the one from 1998

however a couple of years ago I had some fraudulant activity on my account.

Lloyds rang me to ask about some transactions which were fraudulent.

She informed me that she would close the account and reissue a new card.

At the time I took no notice as it just had the card stuck to it

but in hindsight i'm wondering if this would mean that I was now on the account which was on the new CCA and not the original account?

It is not signed but has cancelation section which is an opt out section to cancel.

My online banking will only go back as far as when they re started this account.

Is there any history or even benefit to banks to shut and reopen old accounts.

Ive yet to read this, any knowledge on the subject would be interesting.

ps: If its normal to recieve this with any new card let me know, its written in a way that its a new account

Hi Craig,

Is this a bank current a/c or a credit card a/c.

Hi again,

My understanding is that, unless you signed a new credit agreement when the new card was issued, the original credit agreement would continue to govern the account.

The replacement card is not significant, just like when a card expires and a new one in automatically issued. They're governed by the original agreement.

Thanks, think i'll wait and see what the original agreement says. I just had this feeling that maybe they knew there were gonna be a mass of disputed agreements so went on a mission to get people on new agreements or something. The cynic in me :)
