Dear all

First post so apologies if anything's incorrect!

I'm currently awaiting the outcome of a number of complaints regarding MBNA and their behavoir regarding my CC account.

I found this forum while searching for any other customers who've had the same treatment and was not surprised to find literaly thousands.

MBNA have advise that the complaints are being investigated and will get back to me in due course but have written again to state investigations are taking longer than expected.

Can I write back to them stating the account is now in dispute based on this?

Any advice would be very welcome.

Chris

Hi Miinow,

Welcome to CAG.

You are not able to put the account into dispute as a result of their behaviour towards you.

However, why not send MBNA a Credit Card Agreement request to see if they hold an enforceable agreement for your account.

This costs £1.00( use a postal order), do not sign the letter and send by

Recorded Delivery.

Hi Supa

Thanks for the advice.

I have spent a few hours on this forum and read many a story on how MBNA refuse to adhere to the law of the land.

Has anyone had any success in challenging them on their methods?

It seems they blantantly flaunt the guidelines and yet are allowed to continue to make peoples lives a misery.

Just some of the examples of what's considered "unfair" that I have experienced:

Multiple phone calls and texts in the same day.

Phone calls during unsociable hours. (Evenings and Sundays)

No data protection checks before discussing account.

Arrogant, offensive, downright rude operators.

Suggesting borrowing money from friends or relatives in order to pay MBNA.

Suggesting "too many complaints" will go against you record.

I just thought it might be time to see if we have any experience of the little man standing up to these big corporations.

Chris
