I have a BMW first day of registration March 2007 and cost over £45,000 i recently took it to the approved BMW garage as it was running sluggish and i had missed the service which was due 4 months ago, it turns out the turbo has gone on the car and BMW want £6,500 to repair it, they say the warranty is void as the service was not taken on time, is this a common fault on a car only just over 2 years old or with BM's 7 series does anyone know what i can do?? HELP:mad:

If you missed the service, you've basically lined yourself up for this. Even though I would say that on a 07, it shouldn't happen - BMW will ultimately use it as the clause to void the warranty.

I'd take it to a specialist (a local independent) and see how much they would charge (and see if they agree with the diagnosis).

By all means tale the car to an independent for examination. You really want an independent examination of the turbo to explain just why the turbo failed. It could well have failed due to a manufacturing defect. It would also be interesting to know just what is included in the "late" service and whether any of the service routines would have picked up to turbo fault.
