Hi guys

Has anyone tried provident credit - I cant find any threads on it (that may just be me being dumb).

Im trying to sort this one for brother and wondered if anyone has started the process with them as when i phoned them this morning to find out who I send the DPA too not surprisingly none of their call centre people had a clue.

Any help would be much appreciated.

PS cant say enough times but I LLOOOVVEEE this website!!

just post the Data Protection Act request to the address where the account is held. it is then up to them to get it to the right person. i wouldn't worry about past cases with provident, because their interest rates are so extortionately high that they should not be taking any more from you.

  • 1 year later...

I to am having problems with provident for a loan I took out last year couldnt find a thread so if anyone could help me it would be much appreciated. I moved to Oldham last October and informed Provident a month in advance and they said not to worry as they had collectors and offices all over the country and someone would be in contact with me at my new address to carry on with doorstep collections (I had 2 loans at 300 and 150 with apr at 177 for both. I heard nothing after a month so rang them where they said the same thing and also gave me a mobile number of an agent, when I finally got in touch with him he said they had no offce in Oldham and agents did not collect in the Greenfield area (about 4 miles from Oldham centre) and put me back in touch with their office in Bradford. This went on for a couple of weeks then around December, I think, I got a solicitors letter from C K EDRUPT threatening court action so I rang and explained the situation and they asked if I could pay by debit or credit card which I replied no as I had neither hence the reason for the loan in the first place to get me back on my feet (stupid I know as they are legal loan sharks) again I was told someone would start collecting again from my new address in 10 to 14 days.I heard nothing till yesterday when a letter arrived from C k Edrupt saying that my address is no longer covered by any local offices and that payment should now be made to them so I rang provident who put me through to a debt agency who then put me through to EDRUPT and explained to them that it took Provident 8 months to tell me that they had no offices or clients in this area and that I was willing to pay a little a month as that is all I can afford being on incap and she laughed and said its my word against Provident to do with them saying they had said they would collect from my new address as I have no written agreement and that I must send the 395.50 owed or come to some agreement so I said I could afford a pound a month and again she laughed and said no and wanted to know how much I got a month and all my outgoings again I said if it went to the CAB they would offer the same as thats all I can afford so in the end I put the phone down....any advice as to what I should do......cheers:o

There are some Provident Threads, go to search at the top of the Thread, type in Provident it will bring them up. Personally, I would do a CCA letter as there are errors on their agreements and Provident don't like going to Court because of their high interest. There has been one case were the Judge ruled in favour of the defendant because of the high interest. The CCA letter is letter N in the General Forum Templates letters, send recorded delivery with a £1.00 p/o cheque. They have 12 working days + 2 days to respond, if they don't then they are in default and you can stop making payments.

I can't see sending a SAR to them would gain anything for as far as I am aware that don't make any admin charges other than their high interest rate which is set at the beginning of a loan.

The address is

Provident Personal Credit Limited

Colonnade

Sunbridge Road

Bradford BD1 2LQ
