Hi

Ive just purchased a 2 and 3 seat leather sofas from SCS and wished id not bothered. The 2 seat is wonderful but the 3 seat is a joke. The day after i purchased it I noticed that one of the seat cushions was really soft in comparison to the other 4 seats and that one side of the sofa was 2 inches lower than on the other side, so out came the spirit level and tape measure I checked my floor was straight and my dado rail they was fine, spot on, then I measured the sofa the wood frame measured 2 inches shorter. I rang customer services they said they would contact the manufacturer to have them inspect it. 10 days later they sent a service engineer out to take a look he basically said don't sit on the seat that is really soft because it will sag quicker than the rest but a new foam seat pad could be fitted and that there was nothing you could really do about the frame being shorter on one side and that it was within the manufactures limit but i could remove my dado rail so that it wouldn't be so noticeable. So I've rang SCS again today to see what if anything is going to happen with my strange looking sofa only to be told that the manufacturer as marked the job as complete.I pointed out to customer services that the job is far from complete because I have still got a faulty sofa that resembles a strange looking ski slope. They've said they will check with the manufacturer to see why they've marked it job done and get back to me in 3 days

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP

Your covered by the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) this act says your suite has to be of satisfactory quality, in appearance and finish, and free from minor defects, as well as being durable!

It's not up to the manufacturer (your contract with SCS not the manufacturer) to decide if it's acceptable, the burden of proof is with SCS and any examinations or reports they get from the manufacturer is biased and does not really prove anything.

You could push for repair or replacement

You could also try calling the Furniture Ombudsman on (0)1438 777700.

^^ Spot on advice from 118:8. You have paid SCS for a product; the product does not meet your, or legal, satisfaction; SCS are responsible for a repair, a replacement, or a refund. They must have the opportunity to 'put right' - a repair or a replacement - and if those remedies fail, then you are entitled under law to a refund.

I would advise writing to SCS to complain, including all the problems you are having with their product, informing them that you require the problems to be resolved, and giving a deadline within which they must respond to your complaint. Barracad's thread on How To Complain is an excellent guide to setting out an effective complaints letter.
