  1. Got three going actually, still not sure whether or not you should use the one or open new ones with different queries/banks! So stuck with three different ones as sometimes you pick up on a thread and see a mod etc telling someone to open their own thread - hence the three. As you will see under my signature - worked out how to do that am now looking for a avator there are some brilliant ones on this site my favourite being - HSBCRUSHER - the big pink dog, which I believe belongs to a guy who is clearly in touch with his feminine side - I just love it!! I digress, as I was saying I have submitted DPA letters to halifax and prelim letter to HSBC so am on the ladder so to speak. How are you doing?
  2. I love it!!! The wonderful thing is that I can identify and request information about accounts/loans and all other silly mistakes and financial arrangements that I have entered into in my life that I would never dream of divulging to other people. Done some pretty stupid things in my life but now realise that hey so have other people. This site gives you the information and the impotus to stand up and be counted cos you know someone knows something about everything and is willing to share. I'm still a newbe so I'll share the looove!!
  3. You were the first person to welcome me last week!! Under a new name now as quoted real name when originally joined - you made me feel really welcome - thanks!!
  4. These people are the real epitomy of Loan SHARKS!!!! £1000 borrowed ended up selling car to pay them back a phenomenal amount within the year. Payments missed due to hospital admission then repayments spiralled out of control etc... Would appreciate anyone who has had any dealings with them coming back to me ASAP. Thanks:(
  5. Hi it's me again any luck with the template, sorry to nag but I am now itching to get started with these 'bar stewards' and can't do anything until all charges etc are in my grubby mitts!! Thanks:-)
  6. Just to let you know I found this amazing site last friday and have to say my family think I've lost my mind. My son can't see how it could possibly work and thinks that there's no way I will get any money back...I on the other hand have been glued to this site for practically five days. I've logged in at lunch time in work to make sure I'm not missing anything and as soon as I'm home i'm on the site again!! Like you and a lot of other people money is tight but I am firmly convinced that I will get mine back and as I keep telling myself why settle for the lesser when you can have the more!!! After all you would have managed preclaim think how much better you'll manage postclaim with that lovely lolly. I have never known anyone like the the people on this site, I now feel that I have to carry on in order to not let the side down. So come on alijolly and kick **** along with your mates:lol:
  7. Please could someone let me know if they've had any dealings with this organisation. I am assuming they are country wide and only, as far as I am aware deal with providing finance on owned vehicles.
  8. Hi again yes I do want you to do it if you don't mind. I will PM you the details in next few days if that's okay...
  9. Sorry Flinty_1 to hijack your thread - last time then I will start one of my own should I need any further info....thanks! Could someone please help me with original Data Protection Act letter to go to this Finance Company, the one in the library needs to be amended but not sure what to say etc.... Thanks:?
  10. Thank you so much for responding and please don't take this the wrong way!!? But I'm really glad someone else had the same harrassment that I had, I thought it was just me, nice to know you're not alone - that's why I sooo love this site!! I will contact them but I'll have to do it using the DPA letter as I have no statements from these people what so ever and to be honest always terrified to contact them - "can of worms" or in their case "can of vipers".
  11. Hi Flinty been looking at all the info I currently hold on this company a little earlier today. I was unable to meet the monthly payments on a loan with them a number of years ago but been paying them a set amount also for a number of years. Didn't realise until today that each month it shows up as a default on my credit file, no wonder I have trouble with finance ratings etc:mad:. Anyway to cut a long story short I have been unable to ascertain what charges have been lumped onto the account as I never have any correspondence from them at all including statements. Do you think it's worth writing to them requesting statements showing charges etc....? They were initially the most frightening company I have ever dealt with. I dealt with one guy who threatened me with my house, telling me they could make myself and my kids homeless. I tried to explain the situation - he didn't want to know - in fact he said "boo hoo Mrs **** not my problem but it will be yours if you don't come up with a £1000 by the end of next week!" He then proceeded to phone every day thereafter. I contacted CAB they told me to write to them and make an offer -refused! As a last resort I contacted a solicitor who wrote to them making that offer formally and also he 'advised' them to cut the threats or he would instigate legal action. Fortunately they did listen but unfortunately been paying it ever since. So I would love to take them on!!!!
  12. Sorry to have interrupted the thread Sarah Would you consider doing it for me? I will make a donation to the site as well! BTW - Did anyone see the program earlier on Beeb 1 called Serving you? Poor woman customer on there of (I think it was) The Alliance & Leicester. She so needs to get on to this site!
  13. I am up for that! According to Angela both the referrer and the referree get £5.00 if someone wants to refer me I am willing to give up my £5.00 as well - I know it's only a £10.00 but as Tesco say every little helps!!
  14. Do you want to recommend me? (£5 in it for you!!!)
  15. Angela 1606 - You should be on commission!! Just signed up for one tonight, 2 new bank accounts yesterday all just in case.
  16. (As regards your online shopping, I have recently got myself a pre-pay mastercard, I know you have to put money on it first, and it takes a day or two to be added onto your card, but I have already found it to be a great help when, as you say, doing online shopping or even down at Tesco!! Apparently you can even get your wages paid onto it, so it is almost like having an account with a credit card! It was www. mycashplus.co.uk I intend to run the two together, get my wages paid into Nationwide, and then transfer a lump each month onto the credit card to use. Hope this is of help!!) This sounds like a brill idea and you can't incurr any further charges etc.... I don't know about anyone else but this whole site and the realisation of just how much The big boys have taken off the little guys has been a wake up call for me. Done the angry thing now it's a question of don't get mad get even.

Prelim letter sent today recorded delivery to HSBC - £2786 for three years worth of charges, how disgusting is that almost a £1000 per year. Do need to manage my money better however. Also sent DPA to Halifax for previous three years for two accounts - we live in hope (I am a little frightened though). Thanks for the support!!
  18. I am just loving all of this!!!! It's like a soap, please keep us up to date with what is happening re: the double bed issue. I would never have thought of using this site for that particular problem - well done you and hey - loads of luck!!!
  19. Hi there Do you really want to go down the line of claiming charges on a supposedly settled account, wouldn't it be better if you let the 'sleeping dog lie' so to speak in this case unless it raises it's ugly head with another DCA. Regarding the CRA's - there is a site that you can access that will provide you with the top three CRA's reports I have attached a small piece of their ad - checkmyfile.com Unlimited access to our Triple Agency Report, based on data from all three credit reference agencies for just £14.95 per quarter. Keep watch on your data, your finances and guard against identity theft. All for less than £5 per month. Hope this helps!
  20. Good Morning Sam You mentioned a letter post marked Swansea are you a Jack? Don't be despondent, look at the start date of all of this - 10th July. You are doing really well, just remember that £420 was a very distant memory pre June!! I am really nervous, that's why I log into this site to convince myself that I am doing the right thing. As stated previously my son thinks I've lost my mind and can't possibly see how this all works - but he will!!!! I am submitting a prelim letter on Monday to HSBC and a DPA for two accounts to Halifax. I think this site is wonderful so many people helping so many others. I am so trying to convince myself that this amazing bubble is not going to burst! I just have this feeling that the big boys are going to push through some loop hole filling legislation, after all how long are they going to allow us to spend/save our own money for goodness sake, the very thought of it?
  21. To be honest Hun I used the on line version spreadsheet and all I did was put in the date the interest was incurred for example I believe it says: Interest Date: Date interest added - off your statement e.g. 01.01.01 Interest Charged: Amount of interest charged e.g. 1.01 Your Account Balance at date interest applied e.g. +/- 100.10 It will then bring a total for the interest charged at the top of the page... I'm hoping that's how you do it, as that's what I've done and am sending!! So by answering this I'll know whetherI'm right or wrong now as well... Good luck

    1. I thought that was the case with regarding the claim time, I wasn't trying to claim for an earlier date I just wondered if August was late enough etc... 2. I would have thought they would be less that £5,000 so 1 claim it is. 3. Just checking around now and it seems that Halifax only charge a £5 fee? BTW - Do you feel like you've been on this site all day?? I have done no cleaning, I have a mountain of ironing and my kitchen looks like a bomb has dropped, yet I've been stuck here all day!!! I did however manage to drag my dog out a couple of times only because I thought he would have bitten my leg off otherwise! Love reading everyone's story's - it's like peaking into someone's diary...

Hi could anyone please let me know the following: I am putting a claim in for charges for two accounts with the Halifax. I have incurred charges on both accounts which were closed in November of 2003 what I want to know is: 1. Would it seem reasonable to claim from August 2000 to November 2003 or should the start date be later/earlier? 2. Do I claim for both sets of statements at the same time using the same letter or should they be seperate? 3. Do I have to make fee payments of £10 each - totalling £20?
  24. Thanks for that info.... But tell me just how nicely did you ask at the counter, I bet it wasn't my ex branch!! I'm too scared to go into the Halifax I closed my account with them more than three years ago and have had absolutely no dealings with them what so ever!!! What if they've been chasing me for thousands and I don't know about it?? I'm so unbelievably paranoid about this bank I hate them with every fibre of my being. They were so obnoxious to deal with, they never took into consideration my personal circumstances and yet they told me to speak with them when I was experiencing problems.....?? My other half had just walked out, two kids you know the story - the usual blah, blah, blah so I made an appointment to go and talk to one of the advisors - laid my very personal problems on her new beech desk, she looked at me from behind a very large diamond engagement ring and said to me "What do you expect the bank to do Mrs ****?" Whilst also giving me that patronising look that says - he walked out on you did he, that would never happen to me type look! "As your income has now halved I am unable to facilitate a further loan/overdraft but come and talk to me in six months time when the situation has improved (what? like she's going to take up marriage guidance??) and we will see what we can do then!" I walked out of that bank, opened another account elsewhere and closed that account there and then. I wonder if she still works there......? Sorry about the novel bet you're sorry you looked now?

Thanks Michael, been sifting round the site for an address to send Halifax DPA too... you're a treasure. Just to let everyone know I have just completed the template first request letter to the HSBC and printed the schedule of charges to go with it. I am sooooo excited but reeeeeeeeeally nervous. (Get a grip woman!!) Will be posting this registered post on Monday. Good luck to me and everyone else who is trying to recoup some rip off amount. I now have very square eyes, my dog is sitting on my feet with his legs crossed and his lead in his mouth, think he's trying to tell me something?? - Get a life and get off this wonderful, amazing site!!!!!!
