  1. Hiya Kelly Are you settling for only half of what they actually owe you???! I can imagine that even this amount would come in handy but if you were to press on you would probably have the whole £3129.60 plus interest by the time your baby is a fortnight old.........that would buy twice as many nappies. Its your money, and your right to claim it ALL! GOOD LUCK with the baby and with whatever you decide to do x
  2. I had the same letter.........Ive still got nothing!
  3. Fourteen days from when they would of recieved it, send the letter before action letter which you can find in the templates library I think you will find you will recieve a response from them in the next few days anyway, but stick to your deadline!
  4. Quick update.............. I sent Connaught a cca request letter, and have recieved a letter back stating....... Connaught Collections UK Ltd are no longer acting on behalf of 1st credit ltd in this particular matter and therefore ask that all further correspondence is sent direct to THE OMNIBUS BUILDING, LESBOURNE ROAD, REIGATE, SURREY. Now I dont know, if this means Connaught have "stacked" it and decided I'm not worth the hassle or 1st credit are planning on having me back to deal with personally but for now the letters will stop ........yay!
  5. Yea delete the interest column as you don't add this until your moneyclaim Leave off all interest until that point. Just list the dates and amounts of all charges hope this helps!

  7. I didn't have any trouble working out which were charges as they were all clearly marked CHARGES AS NOTIFIED The prices crept up over the four years, I've banked with them from £30 to £39. The only thing that I found with Halifax is that if you incurred more than one charge a day, they lumped the totals together under one charge.
  8. CAG WON'T BE GAGGED SUE THE B*****D'S? LOL
  9. I have just read on a thread that a Judge has declared somebodys debt unenforceable because the insurance policy charges were within the total charge for credit, therefore the amount of credit wasn't accurate. I have re-read my Welcome loan paperwork and its seems the same has happened I have decided that I am going to pay for another ten weeks and then cancel the direct debit and see what happens. In ten weeks I will have paid back with considerable interest all the monies borrowed and as far as I am concerned that will be that and if Welcome Finance don't like it then I will see them in court!
  10. Congratulations and well done!
  11. I've had a letter signed by a Daniel Howard today, in response to my lba. He thanks me for the letter, tells me the usual thing, about banking charges and how they are entitled to charge etc ...... Anyway the "goodwill gesture" is for £238 Letter of thankyou but no thankyou going in the post today
  12. what a fabulous cure for insomnia this thread makes! lol keep up your good work Nigel!
  13. "quote.........with ugly font and colours removed??" wtf? how chuffin anal is that?!!!
  14. I live in a council house, I get charged £15 for a returned cheque. This doesn't happen often, but just occasionally, they seem to put speedy clearance on my cheques ie: I hand it in Friday, it attempts to clear the following Tuesday. (not a good day in terms of bank balances! lol ) They also issue notice to seek letters if you pay your current rent fortnight 45 minutes after the 12pm deadline. I've often wondered if this is done, purely to catch you out just so they can charge more! Really must do summat about this paranoia lol
  15. I think once you had got all your statements together and added up how much you have been fleeced for, your question will of been answered by yourself!
  16. Busyliz my sentiments exactly..........sick of being made to feel so bloody grateful to them, when I still get less than my husband pays in anyway!
  17. If the price can't be justified then it will always be too much!
  18. PKea thanks for the thread, I thought there were some really good points to be made, please dont let the arrogance of some put you off. On a lighter note..........If thats what passes for fantasy these days, no wonder women look so miserable lol
  19. erm ...........charges like unpaid direct debits, and insufficient funds for cheques each carry a £39 charge with the Halifax. They only allow me an overdraft if I have insufficient funds for the charges...........they charge £28 for this.
  20. totally normal...........they always say that then payout! Just wait now and start window shopping!
  21. Just a thought/paranoia freakout............... I've read loads of threads from Halifax claimants, saying that they have been offered "goodwill gestures" I've, so far, been offered zilch, my lba went off on monday, but it seems some have had an offer after their preliminary letter I'm not bothered I AM bothered doesn't matter really does it? moneyclaim will sort it eh? it WILL won't it?
  22. I've had two more lots of charges since my prelim letter both of £39 each. I haven't got them on purpose, in fact one led to the other (as usual) The only difference now, is I only get momentarily annoyed by it, instead of suicidal! My husband and I have just applied for a joint account at the Halifax (the bank Im claiming from)..........ya think we will get turned down? lol
  23. S**T! ............I never thought of that! I've sent two such letters today, and I signed both grrrrrrrrr....... They wouldn't would they? surely? Actually, I really wouldn't be that suprised lol
  24. Just out of interest.............did they charge you a penalty too? They didnt me, which kinda suggests that they realise the overpayment wasn't my fault. The whole system stinks, if you ask me, It helps put people in a poverty trap, my husband is even worried about doing overtime, incase he earns more than he is allowed too, and we end up worse off next tax year!
  25. Hiya You can appeal against the decision, you need to ring and ask them for the appeals form. You will not be asked to repay anything, if it is fair to believe that to your best knowledge your claim was correct. They wont ask for the money back if its likely to cause your family hardship either............or so they say! I am currently repaying them £40 a month for a ten grand overpayment (long story lol ) For them to work out how much you can afford to repay, they do a means form, asking what comes in and goes out..........I suggest you are honest with the ins and add at least £30 to all the outs! (they don't check) good luck and dont worry, they can't have what you haven't got
