  1. OK I will do that. Are you suggesting that I do not pay the outstanding bill for the time being? I absolutely cannot risk any bad credit information being registered against me. Wow, I was here in 2006? I wonder what I was complaining about then? Unfortunately no, I have not been recording the calls. I will do that in future. Also, it might have to be a postal order as I am working away from home at the moment, and dont have my chequebook with me. Is that a big deal?
  2. Not sure how to edit the post, but to make it clear, the bill was for March 2016 to July 2016 (approx 4 months).
  3. We bought a property in July 2015, which we then sold in July 2016. It was refurbished in November and December and was empty the rest of the time. A new meter was installed in March. This was because the previous meter was a pre-pay meter, and we wanted to change this to a normal meter just in case there were any issues regarding selling the house with a pre-pay meter. We received a bill in July 2016 for £411.88, relating to March to July 2016, which was clearly incorrect as the property had been empty. I contacted EDF immediately to explain this, and told them it had been empty. I had given them a meter reading from the day that I moved out but said that the meter must have been faulty. They said they would look at the meter to check if it was faulty, but they did not do so. By this point the new owners had moved into the property, but EDF were still the supplier. After several phonecalls trying to get this resolved, EDF continually claimed that the bill was correct. I then got a call from someone who apologised and explained that someone at EDF had entered the meter reading incorrectly, and yes the bill was wrong. They issued me a new bill some time in July, this time for £8.97. I have a copy of this bill and EDF also have a record of this conversation. This was paid and the account was closed. Last week I received a bill from EDF for the original amount of £411.88. I called EDF to ask what was going on. They told me that actually the person who told me the meter reading had been entered incorrectly was actually wrong, and the original bill was actually correct. I explained the whole story again and told them the meter was faulty, to which they replied- As we no longer supply the property, we are unable to book an appointment for an engineer to attend and check the accuracy of the meter, only the current supplier can arrange this. If you would like this investigating, I would advise for you to contact the current occupant and see if they can contact the supplier so that this can be looked in to further as the supplier will only speak with the account holder and can not discuss anything with ourselves. Can anyone advise me what I should do in this situation? I am certain the meter was faulty, but there is no way I am going to be chasing up the current occupants to try and get that investigated. Why should I do the job that EDF should have done in the first place? However I really do not want to risk getting any bad credit information on my credit file.

  5. I have had a sim only account with vodafone business for about 15 months now. The bills have been incorrect for at least 7 of those months. I stupidly agreed to another 12 months contract around 3 months ago, but I really cant afford to be spending 20-30 minutes on the phone each month sorting out their mess. When I signed up originally, I was given 12 months free spotify. After 6 months, I started getting charged £10 a month. Each month, I would ring up, have to explain everything again, and they would put a £10 credit on my account to cancel out the charge. Each month I was promised it would be sorted for the next month, but it never was! This caused a lot of unnecessary admin for me. This went on for at least 4 months. When I phoned to cancel a few months ago (I was out of contract), they were very apologetic, and promised me I would be billed correctly. They offered me a decent deal, which included a £50 credit, plus 6 months free spotify. The first month it was billed correctly.... but last month it was incorrect. I spent over half an hour being passed around trying to sort this out, and eventually spoke to somebody who promised he would fix it. Yesterday I received a bill, and not only does it not have the £10 credit to reverse last months incorrect bill, but I have also been charged £10 for spotify AGAIN. Also, I have been charged for 11 days eurotraveller, when I was only abroad for 8 days that month! I am sick to death of this, and do not have the time to have to sort out this mess every single month. Am I able to cancel this without any penalty? I have given them many opportunities to bill me correctly.
  6. I can pay £65 now, but if I appeal to PATA it goes up to £130. So I do actually have something to lose from this. This bullying tactic is sickening, which is why I want to fight it.
  7. I would have assumed that PATA, as well as applying precedent and case law, would also apply common sense. Anybody reasonable who watched this video would not say that my wife had "parked".
  8. OK fair enough. but the PCN was for parking, not having wheels on the path, I am disputing that she was "parked" there. Stopped yes, but parked, absolutely not. Stopping somewhere, then trying almost instantly to pull away is not parking.
  9. I got a notice of rejection of representation today, as expected. Also as expected, the letter does not address my points whatsoever, and is just a generic response from the council. What absolute bloody jobsworths. Has anyone got any general advice for the appeal? I have watched the video again with my wife. She is driving down the road, and starts to turn off to park in a parking space that belongs to the charity she was visiting (she is allowed to park there). When she realises that the spaces are full, she instead stops pulls over at the side of the road, admittedly over the footpath, and prepares to leave as quickly but as safely as possible. She waits for traffic to pass, after 28 seconds she starts to pull away but there is still too much traffic. After 44 seconds, she pulls away. Is this adjudicator truly independent? Because I would expect them to take a dim view of this case. It is nothing other than aggressive enforcement and using parking fines as a form of income for the council. I am quite unhappy that I even need to waste my time responding to this, as my time is worth a lot more to me than £65 or even £130, but I am not going to let them bully me into this just out of principle!
  10. Thank you for the reply, where is that definition from? It is definitely not a red route, it looks like it is single yellow but it is hard to be certain, but like I said, there is a dropped kerb that is used for access to the car parking spaces which belong to the tumbletots there
  11. It seems though, from what I have managed to read so far, that stopping is parking, however ridiculous that seems. My wife was in an area that she does not know well, and anybody watching the video and applying any modicum of common sense whatsoever would not say she is parked. These camera cars, do the cameras operate automatically? As the camera zooms in to look at the plate. If this is an operative that is in control of the camera, its even more disgraceful in my opinion that he has not applied some common sense here.
  12. OK I have watched the CCTV. At 0.04 on the video, my wife pulls over at the side of the road. There is a bit of traffic. At 0.32, the car moves to pull away, but there is still too much traffic. At 0.48, she turns in the road and leaves. So after 28 seconds, it becomes clear that she is not intending to park. And she is there for a grand total of 44 seconds. It must be permissible to drive on this footpath, as it is a lowered kerb, which is clearly used as access to the off-street parking. Do we have any grounds for appeal?
  13. Yes good point, but equally, it shows how absurd a "parking" ticket is for this. I have requested the CCTV online, it says it will take 24 hours. I will take a look and see what it reveals!
  14. Hello My wife has received a PCN charge 62 - Parked with one or more wheels on or over a footpath or any part of the road other than a carriageway. This was issued by London borough of Waltham Forest. She said that she was trying to turn in the road, and had to wait to let traffic pass. She was there for less than 1 minute. The part of the road that she is parked on is a dropped kerb, and it looks like it provides access to off street parking. The car is about 12 inches onto the footpath. She also said she saw the traffic camera car stationary across the road. I have been searching for a clear definition of parked, but cannot find one. Applying common sense here, surely she cannot be claimed to be parked? The other issue is that I have read something somewhere stating that an operative in one of those camera cars should put the ticket on the car in person if this is practical. Maybe I have misunderstood this though. Does anyone have any advice on the above? I will begrudgingly pay it if I have to, but it just seems ridiculous to me! Thanks in advance Christian
  15. Thanks for the reply. It just seems insane- I am offering to pay in installments as I was before, but they seem insistent on taking this through the courts. Surely this is disproportionate and unreasonable? I mean if it was a consumer credit agreement, there would be lots of protection, and if I was proposing a reasonable payment plan, they should accept rather than wasting the time of the courts. Making matters worse is the fact that we hope to move out within around a month, so I will be paid up around 6 months in advance of council tax. I know I can get this back, but I dont doubt the process is as inefficient as everything else the council does.
  16. I have since spoken to a manager who again has just ignored everything I have said. According to her, they do not need to send ANY reminders, they can go straight to a final demand like they have. I can afford to pay this, that is not the problem, but I am so angry that i have to. I will be lending the council money until next April. This is THEIR error, in that they have NOT sent us any reminders, but they are absolutely refusing to accept this and just want to take us to court. Someone please help
  17. My wife today received an email from the council, a council tax final notice for £650. This is the first correspondence we have received; we haven’t received any emails or letters. They are demanding the full balance of council tax for the year. We used to pay by direct debit, but I have switched over current accounts and clearly forgot to move this one over. If I had received a notification that my DD had been returned, I would have paid it. So I have exchanged a few emails and a phone call, offering to pay the payment in arrears (two payments, they are usually due on the first of the month). They were not interested and kept saying that if I don’t pay the full balance they will take us to court. Where do we stand on this? They did not send us any warning letters, just a direct final notice by email. I have made a reasonable offer of paying this back, I have paid the two payments in arrears and offered to pay them monthly as before but the council just seem to want to take us to court. Also, this is no longer a debt- as we pay 10 installments over 12 months, it is actually the council who owe us money at the moment, not the other way around! I would really appreciate some advice. The pig headed attitude of the council staff absolutely disgusts me, it seems like they would prefer legal action to getting paid! Thanks in advance Christian
  18. I have an iPhone, and no, unfortunately I did not reset the data counter before I left. What I mean by disputing the horrendously high cost is this. I assumed it would be high, but £8 per meg is ridiculous, a complete rip off, and unjustifiable. Fair enough, like you say, it is what it is, but clearly im not the only one to have fallen into this trap. Is there anything you can suggest I do? I know that OFCOM are currently looking into these rip-off charges. Also, I have just started a new business, and have a new business account with Orange. It is going to be difficult to grow with Orange if they take opportunities like this to fleece me. Thank you in advance for any help

We have not long come back from our honeymoon and I have just received a bill from Orange for £324 £48 of this relates to calls made whilst abroad, which while scandalous, I did make the calls so I do accept the charges. However approximately £230 of this relates to data charges. Now I have been stung with a £100 data charge before, so I made sure to switch data roaming OFF, make sure none of the apps were set to push any data. I checked my email a few times whilst we were out there, and looked on facebook, but certainly not enough to use the 26 meg or so they are claiming. My second problem is that it equates to £9 per meg (used in Malaysia and Hong Kong) which is thousands of times the cost of using it in the UK. So I am firstly disputing that I used that much at all, and secondly disputing the horrendous high cost. Is there anything that I can do about this? Many thanks in advance Christian
