The worst thing about all this, for me at least is that [apart from their unlawful penalty charges] they're a really good bank to deal with in my opinion!

I agree, although I'm hoping this action won't get fed down to the people that deal with me normally. If my account is closed as a result, don't think I'll be too worried, you get cash for opening new accounts these days anyway!

Yep - today!

Not had the letter yet, but logged onto online banking to see if they'd refunded. Both account balances were higher than expected, but not as high as the amount they should have paid back.

After some investigation, I found an entry in each account saying "as advised" (like I say - I haven't been advised of anything!) which, when totalled together, adds up to the full amount required... so, although I may yet get home tonight to find a "please close your accounts forthwith" letter (in which case they're in for some real grief!), I seem to have finally put this one to bed.

Have just set up a transfer to get the money out of their mitts and into my building society account as well...

Thanks everyone for all your help and support - if I find a nasty letter at home later, I'll let you know.

Interestingly enough, I have another letter to write... I notice that due to them dragging their heels in refunding, the joint account went overdrawn for approximately one day... guess what? Yep, £30 charge applied... Can't wait to see the response to my, "pay that £30 back you robbing bar stewards" letter...
