£1,276 in charges taken from my account this month

I'm devasted... just logged on to my e-banking. I've had about 300-400 taken out each month for the past couple of years, but this is the final straw.

 

I can't wait to do a proper re-claim, I just need this money back this month without delay.... any advice?

you could try ringing them but in my experience it does no good, if you have your previous 6 years bank statements then you can start right away with your 1st letter, nothing is going to get your money back this month, but if you read the FAQ's the step by step process and quite a few of the threads you will be able to guage the fight that you will have but ultimately you will triumph and get all your money back.

 

Its not a quick fix, but it is a fix that works, if you get stuck or have any questions, then post on here and there is usually someone around that can help

Well, I'm going to try this evening anyway. They've probably had over 10k off me in the past 2 or 3 years, but to take over £1,200 in a single month is outrageous by anybodys standards I would say.

Called Abbey, got cut off whilst being transferred to a supervisor though. Damn. Will try later.

 

They confirmed that they have charged me £1,844 in the past two months.

No joy as I'm over my overdraft limit. All they want to do is transfer me to collections every time I call.

 

Tomorrow I will be back below the limit so I'll call them again.

if you think is £10K why not do an estimate set of figure on the last few months and in the letters say this is an estimate and actual figures will be supplied as soon as you get your statements.

 

The other thing to do is get as much info from your online statements and do a part 1 claim for what you can get online then sar them for the earlier ones.

you could always shorten the timelines to 7 dys for each step but if (unlikely) it goes to court it can go against you. I changed the times to 10 days to speed things up with nationwide and got away with it.

 

I have also heard of folks going strainght to mcol, but that is a big risk

have a read of lost in paradise, catherine bear threads great examples of fast track...not as daunting as you think...get every penny back from them! and switch accounts christ over 1,000 in one month :o

We know how you feel,we had £800 taken in one month from our account in charges as my partner had just changed from weekly pay to monthly pay and its taken us about 8 months to get straight.Then to top it all my partner had to do jury service for 3 weeks and they don`t pay you until you`re finished so he had to dip into the bills money to pay for petrol and car parking,so again we are in dire straits.It will probably take us another 8 months or longer to sort ourselves out but we are taking ShAbbey to court now.Just waiting for the court date now.Keep at it and don`t give up.

On Martins Money Tips he says "JUST BECAUSE THEY SAY THEY ARE GOING TO DO IT DOESN`T MEAN THAT ITS RIGHT !!!"

i'm 8 months into my claim, but now have a court date (which they most probably will not turn up to). so it is no quick fix to claim.... but it's worth it. my claim is for over £5000 as i handled my account unwisely. but they have no right to charge you the amount they do. so keep the faith, follow the step by step guide and keep going!!!!
