I sent a letter out requesting a copy of my statements for the past 6 years using the Data Protection Act Subject Access Request on the 9th November.

I enclosed the cheque for £10 and received a letter from Smile the other day saying they will supply me with the information before the 40 day limit.

I have moved accounts over so my smile account is now at zero - if they do decide to close me down I don't care!!

So it begins....

Linzeloo, I was worried about Smile closing my account as I actually find them very helpful and think they are one of the better banks. I sent an LBA on the 8/11/06 and recieved a letter this morning telling me they are crediting the full amount back into my account. No shouting, kicking, screaming or hair pulling was involved.

They have made no mention whatsoever to suggest they might close the account.

Generally Smile are settling claims far better than any other bank.
