Hi there,

I have just uncovered some old MBNA statements dating back to 1999 whereby PPI was charged monthly.

We opened the Credit Card when we became self employed , I really cant remember whether it was opened online or by post ) ,

so am unsure if we ticked the PPI box or not.

I dont appear to have any of the orginal paperwork.

I have a few statements but not all.

The PPI suddenly stops being charged, again I am unsure if we realised that we wouldnt really be covered as we were both self employed

and asked them to stop it or if they would have stopped it of their own accord (unlikely I assume)

as this dates back a long time my questions are:

- is it even worth me trying to reclaim the money especially as my recollections are very hazy with the opening of the account,

or shall I give it a go and only try and reclaim the money based on the statements I still have,

or see if I can obtain an SAR from them which I am guessing is a long shot ?

Thankyou in advance for your advice.

MBNA do hold docs past 6yrs

theres a post about it somewhere!

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Sorry probably a daft question, but if they dont hold documents past 6 years is there any point sending them an SAR. Jsut tried the same with Barclays for an old account but they jsut wrote back and said they have no info as account is closed and more than 6 years old. I will try and find th epost you mention. Thankyou
